The engine for a concrete mixer

The engine for the

concrete mixer The frame design depends on the type of drive and the configuration of the tub. The frame is welded from a corner or metal pipes in the form of a triangular or trapezoidal base, fixed on it a drive and an axis of rotation. For the convenience of unloading the finished solution, the frame is equipped with a rotary system equipped with a counterweight or attachment to prevent spontaneous overturning.

Making a tub

A mixing bowl for a concrete mixer must have sufficient strength, so a metal with a thickness of at least 2 mm is required to make it. The bottom of the tub is made of a thicker metal of 5 mm. In the neck area, the tub is tapered in the form of a cone. The drawing of the tub is shown in the figure.

Technique for a mixer bowl:

  1. Steel is made by a flange-hub according to the drawing. You can use the finished part of suitable dimensions.
  2. From a sheet steel of 5 mm the bottom in the form of a circle is cut out, it is marked and drilled in it 8 holes in diameter of 6,5 mm for fastening of a flange-hub according to the drawing.
  3. Of steel 2 mm, cut out a 150 mm wide shell and 4 cone petals.
  4. The parts are bent by template or by means of a vice and a hammer.
  5. Using a welding machine, connect the petals to the cone that forms the neck. A shell is welded to the cone, reinforcing it with a steel band, and welding the bottom. Sutures are cleaned from scale.
  6. The neck must be reinforced to avoid deformation. This can be done with a 10 mm reinforcement bar bent into a circle of the required radius. The bar is welded along the outer edge of the neck at a distance of 1 cm, after which the edges are bent outwards and expand them around the rod.
  7. Inside the tub, three cross-cutters are additionally welded to the tub, made of reinforcing bar 16 mm, bent at right angles. They will give the structure additional strength and improve the conditions for mixing the solution.

Manufacturing of a mixer frame

The frame of a concrete mixer is made of a metal pipe. Due to the wheels, the concrete mixer easily moves around the building site even when it is filled with mortar. For greater stability to the frame, the legs are welded. On the frame is attached a bucket-mixer, electric drive and reducer. The drawing is shown in the figure.

Manufacturing technology for frame and assembly of concrete mixers:

  1. Frame base - longitudinal and lateral beams made of 60x20 mm pipe welded into a T-shaped structure. A vertical stand is welded to them at the connection point. The base of the frame is reinforced with an inclined stand and a brace attached by welding.
  2. The wheels are attached to the transverse beam using the wheel axle. For a concrete mixer it is possible to use wheels from a wheelbarrow, old agricultural or mototechnics, they can be both metal, and with tires.
  3. Legs from the pipe with welded to them thrust pads of sheet iron are fastened by a bridge and welded to the frame.
  4. The panel for the condenser box and the starter is welded to the inclined rack - they enable the rotation mechanism to be activated.
  5. The subframe to which the mixer is attached is made of a pipe and a corner and is a double frame with lintels. The ears are welded to the subframe, through which, with the help of a bolted connection, the subframe is movably attached to the posts.
  6. The electric motor and the worm gearbox are fixed to the subframe. The number of gears of the reducer should provide rotation with a frequency of 20-40 rpm. The engine is three-phase, operating from 380 V AC, engine power - not less than 1 kW.When securing transmission mechanisms, alignment must be observed.
  7. The flange-hub is attached to the mixer-bolt, then the mixer is placed on the splined shaft of the reducer. The mixer is fixed with a key and bolted through the hole on the shaft.
  8. To the subframe the handle is attached to set the concrete mixer in different positions: at an angle of 40 degrees - for mixing heavy concrete, at an angle of 60 degrees - for making a masonry mortar, at an angle of 90 degrees - to flush the mixer. The handle is reinforced with a kerchief from sheet steel, the tip of the handle can be made from a piece of rubber hose.
  9. To fix the mixer in the desired position, use an arc-shaped tilt adjustment sector with holes corresponding to the angle of inclination of the concrete mixer axis. It is carried out from a metal plate, on a stretcher is fastened by means of a bolt to a welded eyelet. For fixing use a pin of a suitable diameter, it is conveniently engaged by a chain to the frame.
  10. All the frame parts are scraped from the scale and painted with metal paint. Rubbing elements are lubricated with any axial lubricant.

Using a concrete mixer

For convenience, the concrete mixer is moved around the site. To ensure uninterrupted power supply, it is necessary to prepare an extension cord in sufficient length in advance.

The components are loaded manually when the concrete mixer is tilted 20-40 degrees. The order of loading of components is as follows:

  • Water
  • Cement
  • Sand
  • Coarse fraction( crushed stone, gravel, expanded clay).

The average mixing time for concrete is from 3 to 5 minutes. Unloading the mixture is done by turning the tub on the frame with the handle, the pin holding the bucket in the desired position, while removing it from the adjustment sector.

After work, it is necessary to clean the pan-mixer from the remnants of the solution, for which it is lowered as much as possible down the neck and slightly taped from the outside, and if necessary washed with water.

The performance of a concrete mixer allows you to fill the ribbon foundation of a private house or cottage for several days of work. With high-quality manufacturing of parts, the concrete mixer has sufficient strength and resource, allowing it to be used for ten years or more.

Concrete - the most popular building material, without its use is not complete, not one construction. Concrete mortar is used for pouring foundation, floors, socle, and sometimes parts of walls, therefore the volumes of concrete used in building a house are quite significant.

The purchase of ready-mixed concrete is not cheap, and due to the independent preparation of the solution, you can save up to 50% of its cost. The preparation of concrete is a rather difficult physical work, which can be alleviated by means of a concrete mixer. It is not necessary to buy it, a concrete mixer made by one's own hands will cost several times cheaper, but in terms of functionality and performance, it does not inferior to the purchased units.

Construction of a concrete mixer

A concrete mixer made by hand consists of several blocks:

  • A tub is a container in which concrete is mixed;
  • Drive - a mechanism that rotates the tub;
  • Frame on which the tub and the actuator are installed.

When mixing a concrete solution, a gravity method is used, based on the movement of concrete fractions within the bucket under the action of gravity. In other words, when the bucket rotates, the components of the concrete mix are mixed: heavier components, such as rubble and sand, sink to the bottom, and a mixture of cement and water evenly envelopes them. In a concrete mixer, you can make any solution, from masonry to heavy concrete for foundation pouring. The ratio of components is determined by calculation.

Badiou can be made from sheet iron or a metal barrel with a wall thickness of at least 2 mm. The volume of the tub should be sufficient to mix the required batch of solution, and excessive increase in the size of the bucket will lead to the need for a reinforced drive and frame. Usually its volume does not exceed 100-200 liters. The bucket is fixed on the axle using bearings, ensuring its unimpeded rotation.

The drive can be powered by an electric or gasoline engine, you can also use a manual drive to perform the simplest concrete mixer. For the electric drive it is possible to use the electric motor from the washing machine - it will provide the necessary effort and speed of rotation. Concrete mixer with electric motor is easy to use, but requires connection to the network, which limits the scope of its use. Gasoline engines from the motorcycle will make the unit versatile, the concrete mixer can be used on any construction site.
