Ceiling from PVC panels: advantages of using

For a start, what are plastic panels? On average, these plastic sheets are 2.7 to 3 meters long, 25-30 cm wide with locks located on long ends, which are connected to each other( roughly the same as the laminate). The panels are mounted on a wooden or metal frame, as well as plasterboard.

Absolute advantages:

  1. The optimum price of the required materials. You will need: directly panels, wooden beams 20-40 mm, metal profiles and fasteners.
  2. Ease of work. This way of lining, mounting panels with an electric drill is completely feasible for those who have a desire to do repairs themselves.
  3. The quality of the material allows you to serve for a very long time. It is unpretentious in the care and cleaning, it is enough to use ordinary water.
  4. Diversity of design. PVC panels have a wide range of colors from the lightest to the darkest( brown, beige, red, green, etc.), which allows you to choose the right shade individually for your room.
  5. Ease of lighting. In the panels, it is possible to make appropriate holes for fixing fixtures and other communications.
  6. Maximum moisture resistance in comparison with gypsum boards and putties.
  7. The ceiling in the apartment or at the dacha does not become moldy over the years or because of the water bays. The plastic is unshakable to this effect, but it is easily mounted and dismantled to eliminate various consequences.

PVC panels for the bathroom have several drawbacks

The disadvantages are:

  1. Limited forms that do not allow to make a multi-level frame.
  2. The bathroom ceiling, especially if it's low, looks a bit cheap from the plastic panels and the joint between the components is necessarily visible.

It is easier to see what the panel looks like in the following image.

Appearance of the classic panel

It is seen in the photo that each sheet of the PVC panel inside has different rib rigidity, on which the laying specialist fixes the optimum weight, which will provide excellent strength. And in order for these panels to be clearly located on the ceiling, they should be attached with devices, as in the image below.
Mounting profiles for installation

Types of profiles for kitchen and bathroom

The ceiling connection element differs by the way, place of use and material:

  1. Starting. The most used for closing the ends of the panel and fastened around the perimeter of the ceiling in the room.
  2. The "F" profile is necessary for fixing the ends during transitions between planes. Allows aesthetically close one wall, and the one that is around the corner, leave unchanged.
  3. Connection "H", is used when it is necessary to increase the frame and the length of the panel.
  4. The plastic corner is the same as the metal corner. Required to close the outer ends for internal corners.
  5. Ceiling baseboard for finishing and ennobling of fasteners.
  6. Universal corner( plastic), which combines the qualities of neatness and aesthetics, making any corner more elegant.

Common types of fasteners

Beautiful transformer ceiling goes through several stages of installation, so below is provided a step-by-step instruction.

Step 1. Preparing for the installation of the

pvc ceiling The preparation involves the marking of the ceiling, the collection of necessary parts and tools and the preparation of the ceiling surface. For the latter, it is sufficient to treat the surface with a primer and allow to dry completely. As for the markup, the simplest way is to use the water level. In a large room to build an even frame without tools is extremely difficult. Therefore, it is necessary to mark the point on the wall taking into account the distance from the lower point of the ceiling, so that it is not less than the thickness of the selected fastening element on which the hanging frame will hold. And from that place you should move the marks to all corners of the room.

How to mark the surface for mounting profiles

In addition to the water level, you can use any other building. Easier to carry out the marking in the presence of already laid ceramic tile, since this option will allow you to orient the layout according to the available squares. Draw a control line between the tiles of the upper row. Then, for example, using a paint string stretch the thread of one label to the other and draw lines for the fasteners.

Step 2. Installation of profiles and hangers

The next step is to install the tape suspensions in the form of the letter "P", which are applicable for both wooden and metal frames.

Important! The distance between the suspensions can not exceed 60 cm.

Profiles on the ceiling in accordance with the requirements

Then, on the perimeter of the room, you should attach the profile UD, which creates a metal frame, but it is necessary that the lower edge of the profile does not intersect the marked line. Between fictions, the maximum distance should be 50 cm, often they have holes provided, which can also be used. After that under the suspenders fix the profile CD, but first cut it so that between the walls and it the distance was 5 mm. This will help him to become in place without deformities.

Important! The distance between the profiles for the ceiling should be 40-50 cm, which means that if you are building fixtures, keep an eye on their size.

Profiles "P" are fixed with self-tapping screws, as are gypsum boards. As well as similar screws are connected with each other.

Recommended! For fastenings of suspensions and profiles use plastic plugs 6 mm and screws 5 mm. In the case of the use of impact plugs, attention should be paid to how well the dowel enters the body well and tightly, because the screw making the hole in the plastic may not be screwed properly.

Dowels, screws and suspensions to be used

Step 3. How to make the ceiling itself from the panels: we are installing

We are going to install the panels to the ceiling on a metal frame.

  1. Profile "L" is screwed with screws with a press washer.
  2. Screws must be tightened with the calculation of overlapping fillet.

If the sheets are attached to a wooden frame, then your actions are the same.

If you've never done this before, but study diligently, you still have to remember that without practice it will be difficult for you to work on your own. A good lesson can be a video on which the master, having his own technique, will help to see how the installation is actually carried out.

  1. Installation should start from the transverse side. Proceeding from this, the first sheet is cut off, approximately 5 mm less than the width of the room. It is necessary that the sheet, located on the ceiling, lay down not deformed. You can cut with such tools: jig saw, Bulgarian.
  2. The edges of the cut sheet can be cleaned and polished with an abrasive mesh, but with great care, so as not to damage.
  3. Please note whether the film is removed from the sheets to be installed. If you leave them on the surface, you may have trouble removing it when the installation is complete.
  4. Place the first profile on a narrow butt and slightly fold the sheet, then place the second one.
  5. Panel slide into the wide end. If it does not work out cleverly, apply a narrow spatula.
  6. Fasten it with screws and press washer to the profile. In this work, you also need to show maximum accuracy, since when the bits are dropped from the self-tapping, the coating can be pierced and become unusable. To avoid this, it is necessary to drill a hole in the profile, and after adjusting the screw.
  7. The second sheet is inserted the same way, then the work is similar. Each next panel is attached to the previous one by means of a lock-latch.

Mounting of hinged sheets

To ensure the final result, it is necessary to mount the sheets. Excellent, if in your house proportional rooms and the last sheet will be in future for the rest of the place. But if this does not happen, you need to cut the plastic.

Cut along the entire length of such a distance that a couple of millimeters is not enough to the wall and the beginning of the last sheet. So put the plastic sheet against the stop from one side to the corner, but on the other can freely hang out, but it can also be inserted, slightly shifting the first corner.

So there is a small gap, which naturally needs to be covered. It is rarely possible to do this with your own hands, because you need a paint tape. Having pasted several strips across, you need to gently pull it to the previous one.

Step 4. Checking the luminaires and installing them

As for the luminaires and other communications, first determine their location, and cut the panels directly on the ceiling - the material easily lends itself even to the stationery knife.

Kind of fixtures and plastic lined ceiling

And so your actions:

  1. Choose the place where there is a wire receiving power for the lamp.
  2. You can cut almost any knife, even clerical.
  3. In the cut out hole we place the lamp.
  4. Then attach the wire with the luminaire.
  5. Unnecessary wires are thrown under the frame.
  6. If there are several lamps, then connect them with each other.
  7. We fix skirting boards and it's ready!

If you have not decided yet, you should use this material to cover the surface, then know that the plastic panels can last from 5 to 10 years. Because they do not fade and do not form spots, they are a durable "product".

At this master class is completed, try to use the advice found and try to be careful in the calculations and installation. Good luck!
