How to make a ceiling from aluminum panels

In the bathroom, the most practical and aesthetic choice can be a ceiling made of aluminum panels. It can be installed without problems.

The bathroom is a relatively small room in most modern apartments and houses. However, for its arrangement and decoration, however, considerable means are needed, which means that it is required to find a solution that will satisfy the owners from both the aesthetic and the practical point of view. And in this respect, aluminum panels for the ceiling are really optimal.

Their main advantages are:

• no need for leveling ceilings, their serious preparation;
• absolute stability not only to moisture, but also to direct water ingress;
• Biostability;
• large selection of design solutions;
• is easy to clean;

• elementary assembly.

For the arrangement of such a ceiling does not need significant funds, and if the owners of the house have some repair skills, then there is an opportunity to save even on installation. How to install aluminum panels in the bathroom

There are several types of mounting of similar panels and cassettes:

1. on a homemade frame( aluminum or wooden);
2. on the manufacturer's suggested system.

If the bathroom is small, then you can use the first option - it's quite simple and inexpensive, if the room is large, it is better to buy a ready-made suspension system, although it will cost more.

Stage 1: preparation for works

ceiling. And for the first installation( ready-made hangers), and for the second( homemade skeleton), you need to thoroughly prepare. The preparation will consist of the following steps:

• room measurement;
• calculation, how many will need the panels and inserts between them, ceiling skirting, lighting fixtures, carcass materials;
• ceiling preparation;
• purchases the necessary materials.

Before you go to the building store, you also need to think about the auxiliary building materials, as well as about the tool, that is, self-tapping screws, primer, screwdriver, drill, level, tape measure, special construction knife( scissors for metal) for cutting profiles and aluminumpanels.

Stage 2: preparation of the ceiling

1. First you need to remove from the ceiling the old decorative coating. Strong effort does not make sense - you can remove only what is easily removed itself.
2. If there are deep seams or even holes, they must be plastered.
3. Now you need to thoroughly primer surface. The primer should be with increased resistance to moisture and fungus - even with good ventilation in the bathroom, they are inevitable.
4. To subsequently be able to connect the required number of fixtures, you need to remove the wire from the wall and make the wiring.

Stage 3: frame installation and profile mounting

1. We measure the level at which our ceiling will be installed. We make notes on the walls for the convenience of work. Do not forget that the built-in lamps have a certain depth - this must be taken into account.
2. Cut the aluminum panels to the desired length. If the room has an irregular shape, then the panels need to be numbered. Do not forget to mark those places( on the front side of the panels) where the lamps will be located. Slots for the lamp can be made immediately, but most experts recommend doing this after installation - so our long strips will not lose their stiffness, respectively, less likely the appearance of creases.
3. Along the perimeter of the room, by bending pipes and other obstacles, install an aluminum( not steel!) U-shaped profile( in the diagram: a wall corner).Fastening is made on dowels with preliminary drillings of a wall a drill or a perforator.
4. Now you need to install perpendicular guides( on the diagram: universal busbars), on which there is a special fastener, on which our aluminum panels will snap. They are installed at a distance of approximately 1-1.5 meters, so that the panels do not bend. These tires are fastened to special "floating" suspensions( in the scheme: suspension-clamp + spoke) to level out possible unevenness of the ceiling. The step between the suspensions should also be about a meter.
5. Now you can attach the aluminum rails yourself. Do it this way: first fix the panels from one side of the wall to the middle, then - from the opposite to the middle. This will avoid gaps. When fixing the panels, we install the fixtures.
6. Now you can close the gaps between the panels with decorative slats.

Aluminum panel or lath ceilings in the bathroom can be easily installed by hand. You just need to use the suggested tips. A complex tool for this is not required, but it is better to work together - alone it will be difficult to cope.
