Wooden floors that are not laid directly on the screed, but on the logs have some features that sometimes become critical. So, the arrangement of wooden floors on logs is necessary if you plan to place electrical or engineering communications in the formed space. Sometimes the creation of a space between the wooden floor and the base is necessary to create ventilation, preventing the appearance of moisture and, therefore, mold. So, the wooden floor on the logs is widely used in bath rooms, ensuring the removal of excessive moisture and preventing the destruction of the tree.

But the device of wooden floors on the logs requires a certain skill and in some cases such a floor has to be leveled. In addition, the leveling of the wooden floor with plywood can also be necessary when repairing in old premises, when for some reason you do not want to completely remove the old floor. Wooden floors laid on the logs on the base are very often found in the so-called "Khrushchev".Over time, such a floor, due to natural processes in the mass of the tree begins to lose an even horizontal surface, to dry and crack. However, before laying the finish flooring, whether it is linoleum, carpet or laminate board, such a floor must be leveled.

The linoleum is particularly critical to the unevenness of the field. The slightest drop of heights in the area of active use of linoleum will lead to the fact that it will begin to damage and lose its aesthetic appeal. Meanwhile - a beautiful finish flooring - this is one of the key elements of the interior, which gives your home an attraction and uniqueness. So, before laying the finishing floor covering on the wooden floor, its base must be carefully leveled. Finishing floor coverings in themselves are not a load-bearing structure and from what will be the condition of the foundation beneath them - the life of the concrete depends directly.

Why is it advantageous to use plywood for floor leveling?

One of the most popular and cheap ways of leveling a wooden field is the use of plywood laid on top of the boards. Applying this method, you will get the opportunity to create an even surface, on which you can easily put both a hard and flexible floor covering. For the work on leveling the wooden floor, you need to use fairly thick plywood sheets, a thickness of at least 1.2 centimeters.

However, if the height differences on your wooden floor are small, then you can do with a centimeter plywood. Inexpensive plywood not only will give your finishing floor covering an attractive aesthetic appearance, but also protect it from premature wear, allowing you to save money for re-repairs.

Preparing for operation

In order to start the operation for leveling the wooden floors with plywood, you need to stock up on the necessary materials and tools. The floor is leveled using self-tapping screws, construction level, electric screwdriver, special PVA joinery adhesive and plywood sheets.

The technology of work on leveling the floor with plywood.

In order to align the wooden floor with the use of plywood, you first need to determine the desired horizontal level, on which you want to deduce the sheets to be laid. To do this, over the entire floor surface it is necessary to set up beacons, which are ordinary self-tapping screws screwed into the base - the wooden floor at a certain level. The distance between the beacon-samorezami should not exceed 30 centimeters.

To determine the required level of beaconing, it is best to use the laser level. First, the desired level is marked on the walls, this can be done with an ordinary pencil. Then to the floor, preferably in the places where the lags are laid, the base beacons are screwed, between which the string is stretched. The remaining beacons are screwed, guided by the thread, which indicates the required level.

In the next stage, after setting up the lighthouses, using the screwdriver and the building level, it is necessary to begin assembling the logs, which will subsequently be laid down with plywood sheets. As a log, you can use plywood strips with a width of up to five centimeters. As a means of fastening plywood strips, you can use PVA joinery glue. On the edges of the lag can be attached to the wooden base with self-tapping screws. In places where there is a large difference in the height of the wooden base under the lag, which is not strong enough, you can put pieces of plywood to prevent sagging. To prevent mixing of embedded pieces, their surface must also be greased with joinery glue.

In the third stage, after the joinery is completely dried, the prepared plywood sheets are laid on the logs. The standard plywood sheet looks like a square with a side of 1.25 meters. However, for more precise positioning, the sheets can be sawn to narrower segments with a width of 0.6 meters. When carrying out segmentation, do not forget to check the edges of the sawn areas. Some sheets may have stratifications in the thickness that can not be detected by external inspection. Such sheets must be replaced with quality ones.

In the fourth stage, carefully inspect the decomposed sheets. If irregularities are detected, clean the found mounds with a skin. After leveling, thoroughly clean the surface and remove all dust from the substrate between the lags.

In the fifth stage, the sawn plywood squares are laid on the prepared and processed logs. When composing sheets of plywood, make sure that they overlap with each other in accordance with the principles similar to brickwork - the joints of different rows should not coincide with each other. Conditionally speaking - at the joints should not be formed "crossroads".Prepare the plywood sheets for their final fixing - cut the sections in the places where the engineering communications, for example, heating pipes and there is a complex configuration of walls.

At the sixth stage, attach the cut out plywood sheets to the logs. For this, it is best to use self-tapping screws with a countersunk head. To prevent protrusion of the preparation of self-tapping screws - the points of their screwing must be pre-crocheted - by making a groove in the plywood groove for the size of the head of the screw.

When using thick plywood sheets, you can increase the distance between the beacon beacons.

The additional height of the floor, when leveled with plywood sheets, will increase by a maximum of three centimeters. If you plan to use linoleum as a finishing coat - we recommend that you process the joints of sheets with a grinder.
Using a Wood Grinder

wood grinder When using a laminate board as a finishing coat, be sure to place the substrate under the laminate.

Before placing the finishing coat - carpet - paint the plywood floor with two or three layers of strong lag.

So, using this algorithm, you can get instead of uneven, withered old floor boards a new, perfectly flat horizontal surface that will be completely ready for placement of any finish covering giving your house a unique design, and at the end we recommend watching the video about how to levelwooden floor plywood.
