Eaton xPole Home HNB-C16 / 1N / 003: characteristics and connection diagram

click fraud protection

We continue our review of Eaton's electrical protective devices. We have previously considered circuit breaker xPole Home HL-C16 / 1 and RCD xPole Home HNC-25/2/003. This time we decided to consider a combined protection option (RCD + automatic machine) in the form of a differential automatic xPole Home HNB-C16 / 1N / 003. The characteristics and main features of the device are provided below, so let's go directly to the review.

Appearance

The body of the difavtomat is made of dense plastic, not collapsible. The two-pole module is made for installation on a standard DIN rail. On the front side there are 4 screw terminals for connection to electrical conductors. The clamping terminals allow you to install a wire with a cross section of up to 25 mm2. It is also possible to install on dovetail current bus terminals.

On an Eaton differential circuit breaker, terminals 1 and 2 are for connecting the phase conductor, and terminals N for connecting the neutral conductors. In addition, on the front side there is a lever for switching on the device and a red / green indicator eye for the status of the release contacts. To test the difavtomat, there is a TEST button on the front panel of the case. Below the button, the rating of the leakage current setting is 0.03A.

On the right side of the case there is a sticker with information from the manufacturer and a schematic diagram of the device connection.

Specifications

The xPole Home HNB-C16 / 1N / 003 protection device is a combination of a differential relay with a circuit breaker in one housing. Difautomat is a universal device for protection against short-circuit currents and leakage currents on the ground, which the device fixes.

The considered differential automaton is designed to operate in networks of 230 V AC, frequency 50 Hz. The sensitivity of the device to leakage current is 30 milliamps, and the rated current of the thermal release is 16 amperes. This data can be easily read in the title:

  • C16 - rated current of the device is 16 Amperes, type C;
  • 1N - automatic machine + additional pole;
  • 003 - diffrel shutdown current.

Of the other characteristics, I would like to highlight:

  1. Operating temperature: -25 ° C to + 40 ° C.
  2. Overall dimensions: width 35 mm, height 80 mm.
  3. Operating voltage in the range from 196 to 253 V.
  4. The service life declared by the manufacturer: 4000 cycles for electrical components and 20,000 cycles for mechanical components.
  5. Dust and moisture protection: IP20.

Connection diagram

According to the manufacturer installation of a difavtomat can be produced both horizontally and vertically. In this case, it is possible to connect the device to the input both from the 1N side and from the 2N side.

The general circuit for connecting a differential machine is as follows:

At the same time, Eaton indicates the connection diagram on the case, which can be seen in the photo at the beginning of the article.

Finally, we recommend watching the video review of xPole Home HNB-C16 / 1N / 003, which also demonstrates how to check the operability of the difavtomat with the TEST button:

In the power supply system, the differential protection circuit breaker takes a leading place, allows save space in the dashboard, avoid electrical injuries and spontaneous fires due to damaged wiring. xPole Home HNB-C16 / 1N / 003, like any key device, requires periodic maintenance, at least once every six months. In dusty and damp rooms, at least once a month. Functionality check is carried out by pressing the TEST button on the device. A working device will work and break the controlled circuit. This concludes this review. We hope the information was interesting and useful for you!
