The status of the document BCH 59-88 for 2019 is not active and not valid. Departmental building codes have been relevant since 1989. In 2003 it was replaced by SP 31-110-2003. The full name of the regulation: “Electrical equipment of residential and public buildings. Design standards ".

The rules and regulations that are specified in the document are relevant when designing electric lighting, power supply and electrical equipment that is being built, overhauled or is being reconstructed. These devices can be located both in public buildings and in residential buildings or dormitories, urban, rural and suburban type.

There are different types of lighting, the use of which depends on the type of room in which it is installed and the purpose. General lighting is used in residential and public buildings, combined - in production shops, night or duty - at exits from entrances, in medical or educational institutions.

The document provides for table No. 1, which indicates the standards of illumination from general lighting. Appendix 1 indicates the lighting standards in cultural institutions and medical and prophylactic facilities. And in table No. 2, the data for the lowest illumination are provided, depending on the type of stage.

The following are used as lighting devices:

  • fluorescent lamps;
  • incandescent lamps;
  • high pressure discharge lamps.

The main lighting is carried out mainly by fluorescent lamps, but educational institutions and schools should be illuminated only by them. Incandescent lamps are used in pioneer camp dormitories, showers and bathrooms. High pressure discharge lamps are best installed in sports halls with ceilings from 7 meters, in production and industrial premises.

As for the power distribution boards and points, the current version indicates that they must be located on the same floor as the electrical receivers that are connected to them. The grouping takes place in accordance with the accounting of the technological purpose of each electrical consumer.

  • in public catering networks, you can connect up to 4 devices with a capacity of up to 3 kW and 2 - up to 5 kW;
  • in training workshops, up to 5 power devices are connected according to the trunk circuit.

In Appendix 2 and 3 at the end of the document there are diagrams for connecting electrical receivers of refrigeration and technological equipment.

The document describes in detail how to protect internal power grids up to 1 kV. Recommended Appendix 4 contains formulas according to which the rated currents of fuse-links in fuses are selected.
