Preparatory stage
Before starting the assembly and laying of sewer pipes, it is necessary to mark out the future sewage system and pre-purchase the required amount, both of the pipes themselves and of the connecting elements. In this case, it is necessary to take into account both fasteners and devices. After the delivery of all parts of the sewer to the installation site, an even and clean surface for storage is prepared. Pipes can be stacked on each other to a height of not more than 2 m. To store polyethylene products, it is necessary to limit the influence of sunlight, regardless of the season.
The pipes must then be cut into sections of a certain length, using a special cutting tool that simultaneously cuts and removes the chamfers from the end face of the pipe. If such a device is not available, it is possible to cut the pipe with a hacksaw, followed by manual removal of the corners of the pipe end with a velvet file or rasp at an angle of 150º.If the product already has a profile, cut it off.
After checking the presence in the socket of the sealing ring, it is possible to begin the connection and installation of the sewage pipeline construction.
Laying of sewer pipes
To properly lay the sewer pipe with your own hands, silicone grease is applied to the surfaces to be connected. This is done in order to:
- reduce the friction that can occur between the sealing element and the pipe when moving along the sewerage of liquid with different temperatures;
- to increase the long-term operation of the connecting elements;
- reduce the voltage that occurs in the middle of the structure;
- silicone provides fast connection of all elements of the system.
The surface inside the socket of the pipe is not lubricated.
Before you start assembling the entire system from the pit to the toilet, carefully study the layout of sewer pipes. To hold fasteners to horizontal and vertical surfaces, use special clamps, which fix the pipes under the joints. Fasteners should be of two types:
- to provide a rigid fixing of the sewage pipeline. Such products have a rubber gasket for reliable fixing;
- clamps without a rubber seal provide a certain freedom in moving the pipe in a horizontal direction.
This locking system ensures reliable and proper sewer laying without the possibility of creating internal stress inside the pipe.
Connection of polyethylene pipe with cast iron
In houses of the old construction, a cast iron pipeline was used for the sewage system. Owners who decide to change the old one to a new plastic one often face the problem of combining two different materials. To do this, proceed as follows:
- the socket of the plastic pipe with the end of the cast iron is connected by means of a special adapter pipe;
- on the cast-iron end of the pipe put on a double O-ring;
- the smooth end of the plastic pipe and the cast iron socket are connected using a double connecting gasket;
- to the connection place a special clutch and perform its fixation on the pipes.
As can be seen from the above rules, the proper laying of sewer pipes by oneself is an easy and feasible process.
