Bidet siphon: for pendant and outdoor bidets with different types of release

During the redesign or renovation of the bathroom, it is often decided to install a bidet. One of the elements of this plumbing, which should be selected and purchased additionally, is a siphon. It not only takes the used water into the sewer, but also protects the sewage drain from getting debris and ensures that the bathroom does not have an unpleasant smell from the sewage system. What are the siphons for a bidet, how to choose a suitable siphon and what you need to know about its installation?

All the siphons used in the installation of the bidet are:

• Tubular - reminiscent of the shape of the letter S;
• Bottle - similar shape to the bottle.

The bottle siphon device is more complicated. Both versions of the siphon are presented in several details, so they need to be assembled. According to experts, the bottle model is more ergonomic and profitable.

In that part of it that resembles the bottom of the bottle, things can be stored that accidentally slipped and fell in the bidet, for example, bracelets or rings. However, a bottle siphon costs more than a tubular model.

Modern siphons for hanging and outdoor bidets can be made of plastic, brass or steel. Plastic models are less expensive, but it is not at all related to the worst quality. Such siphons are no less reliable than metal ones.

The plastic siphon is more preferable if a concealed installation of communications is planned, since it is characterized by durability and functionality, and such a disadvantage as unattractive appearance becomes unimportant when mounted in a wall. If the siphon is in sight, then the best choice will be a metal model, because it looks more attractive.

• The siphon model should firstly fit in size, combining both with the sewer pipe and with the bidet drain hole. If you miss this point, you will have to buy additional adapters later.
• Next, determine how the bidet will be assembled - whether the siphon remains open or whether it will be mounted on the wall. It is also important to consider the exhaust system in your bathroom - whether the sewer hole is in the wall( horizontal outlet) or is in the floor( vertical outlet).
• With a siphon purchased for a bidet, the bend of the knee should be slightly larger than that of the siphons for the sinks, since the bidet operation assumes a larger volume of the water seal. Note that some manufacturers have siphons with a few water closures( they look like a serpentine), in order to eliminate the smells of sewage. Also siphons are sold, which have a dry shutter, represented by a membrane.

Installation Each siphon model is different in its mounting scheme, which is described in detail by the manufacturer. At the same time, there are common features that are important not to be overlooked:

• Often, the siphon is first attached to the sink of the bidet, and finally led to the sewage system.
• All the places in which the siphon parts are connected, it is worth treating with silicone sealant.
• The final stage of the installation should be a leak test. Turn on the water and make sure that all gaskets and couplings are in place, no leaks, and the siphon fulfills its function.
• In many cases, the best way is to entrust the installation of the siphon to the master. An experienced plumber will quickly mount the bidet and give guarantees for their work.
