Modern materials for the interior decoration of houses and apartments include vinyl wallpapers with a non-woven backing. This is not an ordinary material, and the technology for working with it is different from gluing traditional paper canvases. Attractive sides of vinyl

Non-woven vinyl is a high-quality synthetic material. It is a two-layer coating:

1. The base is a non-woven fabric consisting of cellulose fibers. Possessing high plasticity, it in many respects surpasses paper analogues. The material lays well on the surface, smoothes out and adheres to it. In this case, the adhesive is applied only to the wall.
2. The front part of the vinyl wallpaper is polyvinyl chloride. This layer can be structural (made of foamed vinyl), smooth, large relief, hot stamping, with weaving of silk threads.

Preparatory stage

1. Remove old coating: Wallpaper, paint, or more.
2. They clean the base of glue and widen the cracks.
3. Apply a layer primers.
4. Wall defects are eliminated using putty diluted to the optimum density.
5. Again apply liquid primer.

Cut the canvases

• Even at the stage of acquiring wallpaper, you need to verify the batch numbers. Otherwise, the tubes may vary in shade. If you overlooked and one roll does not match the others in tone, it can be used for pasting inaccessible places, above window or doorways, in corners. • With a measuring tape, measure the height of the wall, add 5 to it–7 cm for allowances from below and above. This value is transferred to the wallpaper canvas and cut off the desired length. Preparation and use of adhesive

Nuances of working with glue for canvas based on non-woven fabric:

• Adhesive for vinyl wallpaper is sold dry. Before application, it is diluted with water in the ratio indicated on the packaging bag. Its consistency may be slightly thicker than manufacturers require.
• The main feature of non-woven wallpaper is that the adhesive mass is not applied to the canvas itself, as for other materials, only to the wall. For coating stability, the edges of the strips can be additionally smeared.
• The composition deposited on the wall dries quickly enough, so you do not need to cover them immediately with a large area of ​​the surface. Work with wallpaper

The process of gluing vinyl paintings on the non-woven will look like this:

• The segments prepared for gluing are rolled up or in several rows, so that it is convenient to take and transfer them to the surface.
• The upper edge of the strip is applied to the wall greased with glue, leaving an allowance for the ceiling of 1.5–2 cm.
• On a plumb line they compare how exactly the strip lies. If the wall was marked, this does not have to be done.
• Rubber roller or a clean rag is carried out along the canvas, trying to fix it first in the middle, and then along the edges.
• Making smooth, with little effort, movements, the tool is carried out throughout the cut of wallpaper from top to bottom from the middle to the edges. For smooth canvases, it is convenient to use a plastic spatula, for textural canvases - a roller.

• Carefully smooth the edges.
• The next strip is glued “butt” to the previous one, trying to make sure that the paintings do not disperse.

Work in difficult places

Difficult to glue wallpaper are considered wall sections behind the radiators, in the corners, above the window and doorways.

• Behind radiators to use integral cloths will not work. A strip of a certain length is cut into 2-3 parts in a wavy motion. Each piece is glued individually, trying as tightly as possible to press against the wall. Use a little more glue here. The surface will heat up, so a thin layer of the composition will dry too quickly, and the wallpaper will lag behind.
