None of the decoration elements of the apartment does not experience such high operational loads as flooring. In most cases, the following flooring options can be observed in apartments:

1. The floor is from the boards.
2. Parquet.
3. Laminate.
4. Linoleum.

Each type of coating has its own characteristic "sore":

• the wooden floor from boards or parquet dies shrivels over time, after which cracks appear, and the coating begins to creak or bend;
•  laminate may deteriorate if moisture gets in;
• linoleum, even the most durable, can wipe or tear.

Depending on the state of coverage, financial capabilities and your own preparation, you should determine the nature of the repair. It will be easy and profitable to eliminate minor defects of the floor with your own hands. You can also do the repair of medium complexity yourself: replace the rotten coating elements, strengthen the bent logs. But here we must soberly assess our capabilities. It will be useful to find out how much such a repair costs if it is entrusted to professionals. Perhaps, with the availability of funds, it will be easier to hire specialists than to suffer with a damaged floor covering yourself.

Overhauls, especially complex ones, such as repairing a warm floor, are not recommended to be done on their own. It is much more reliable to order a turnkey floor repair at a reputable construction company or from a trusted private trader, using the recommendations of friends and acquaintances. Often their prices for floor repairs are much lower, and in construction organizations it is easier to “run into” incompetent craftsmen.

Boardwalk Repair

In most Soviet-built apartments, the floors are made of grooved planks laid on logs. The design is quite solid, but it starts to creak over time, individual floorboards bend under the weight of a person or noticeable gaps appear between them, as in the next photo. Repair wood plating produced as follows:

• On a defective area, the floor layer must be disassembled. Worn out areas of the coating can be carefully cut out or removed completely.

Particular care should be taken when dismantling skirting boards in order to preserve them and not damage the wall. This will save you from unnecessary trouble and cost.

• Carefully inspect the logs. If they did not rot, but simply deformed from time to time, then their deflection can be eliminated with wooden wedges. They are hammered under the bars in increments of 400-500 mm.

It is advisable to re-treat the lags with an antiseptic solution, replace the insulator that has become unusable.

• Cracked and rotten floorboards are replaced with new ones. If grooved boards were used in the coating device, then most likely you will have to sort through the entire floor. This is a more time-consuming procedure, but there is a guarantee that the floor will stand for a long time after such a repair.

With good preservation of the coating can be limited to the replacement of individual fragments. The boards are mounted on self-tapping screws or twisted nails, with the hats recessed to a depth of at least 5 mm, otherwise they will interfere with scrapping or sanding the floor.

• Sanding the floor must be done. It will allow not only to obtain a single plane, but also ensure uniformity of coating.
• After polishing, small cracks and indentations in the floor are sealed with special putty on wood.
• Large cracks are eliminated by wooden inserts, fastened to glue or putty.
• At the final stage, the entire floor surface is ground again, and after cleaning the debris, paint, varnish or other coating is applied.

Parquet restoration

Parquet repair will require accuracy and patience. It makes sense to conduct it yourself if the base of the parquet is in order, and it is only necessary to replace cracked or decayed dies. In this case, you need to calculate the required number of these elements and go to the store. It is better to bring one die for a sample with you. It is also necessary to stock up with special glue and a gun for it.

1. Old bitumen mastic, on which parquet was fastened in Soviet times, should be removed with a chisel.
2. You need to sweep out all the garbage, and put the new dies on the glue.
3. Then the surface of the floor is ground and varnished.

Linoleum coating repair

Most often, just clean the old layer and lay a new one. But if linoleum is still quite in good condition, then you can extend its life by gluing joints and replacing the squeezed fragments. If, after the last repair, the remaining scraps are not thrown out, then it will not be difficult to carry out such an operation.

• A rectangular piece is cut out in the area of ​​the defect.

• The base surface is cleaned and dried.
• The patch is placed on a special glue, after which it is necessary to wait a certain time, indicated by the manufacturer on the package. Only after this, you can walk on the repaired area of ​​the floor and put furniture.

Laminate Restoration

This type of coating basically eliminates two types of defects:

• Chips and scratches are repaired with a special repair compound, which can be purchased at a hardware store.

Shallow coating damage can be removed with a wax pencil. The main thing is to choose the right color.

• Significantly worse if the laminate is deformed under the influence of moisture, as in the photo. The only way out here is to re-shift the coating, replacing completely unsuitable elements. Well, if some of them remained in stock since the initial installation.

How can floors be repaired with more significant defects? This will require more significant costs, both money and time. For example, it will take at least a month to dry a new concrete screed. Therefore, such repairs should be planned in advance, and their implementation is best entrusted to professionals.
