Why is gluing joints necessary?

You can get a monolithic floor covering in several ways: by acquiring a cloth from a roll of 4-meter width or fitting narrower strips of 1.5 m and laying them end-to-end.

Bonding joints in a cold way has many advantages:

• The resulting seams are monolithic, reliable and look very neat. For bonding, there is no need to heat the material to a temperature of 350 ° C, as with hot welding, as a result of which the coating can burn, distort, lose its external attractiveness.
• There is no need to purchase special expensive equipment and additional devices.
• Using glue does not require special skills; any home master can use it.
• To work, you need a minimal set of tools.

Used types of glue

Marketed assortment of reaction glue can be divided into three main groups. The choice of the desired type is based on the size of the seam, a variety of linoleum.

• Type "A". Such glue has a liquid consistency, it is used for processing exclusively new, just laid household linoleum or commercial coating. With it, a durable and transparent seam is obtained. Not suitable for wide gaps.

• Type C adhesive is used to remove large gaps. Its consistency is more dense than the previous version. It is permissible to use such a composition for gluing the diverged joints of long-laid linoleum provided that the distance between the strips is not more than 3-4 mm.
• Type "T". Designed for gluing multicomponent linoleum having a polyester or felt base.

Advice! Do not be fooled by the simplicity of applying the reaction compounds, their use requires extreme attention and caution from the master. The smallest drop on the canvas will spoil its appearance. Therefore, we recommend that you always hold a cotton cloth napkin over the tube, and if the composition gets on the material, wait until it hardens, and then carefully cut it with a knife.

How to apply glue for linoleum?

Immediately, we note that in the process of performing cold welding it is extremely important to protect the respiratory system and hands: the substance used is toxic, not recommended for inhalation, contact with skin.

To understand the technology of cold welding, the following is a step-by-step instruction that sequentially describes the process:

1. We carry out a thorough cleaning of the junction that we plan to process.
2. Masking tape is glued to the joint.
3. Before opening the glue, carefully cut the adhesive tape along the entire length.
4. In the formed gap through a special nozzle we squeeze out the adhesive composition from the tube.
5. After about a quarter of an hour, remove the masking tape. After 60 minutes, you can safely walk on the floor.

Important! When the material is glued immediately along the entire length, in places of minimal surface drops, it begins to protrude and puff ugly. The situation will be prevented by gluing joints to small segments of not more than 50 cm.
