One of the most popular devices for producing high-quality drinking water is multi-stage filter with installation under the sink. How to connect an additional tap?

Choosing an individual drinking tap

A filter tap is bought at a specialized store where filters and other household plumbing equipment are sold. The same requirements apply to it as to a mixer connected to a central water supply under pressure. In both cases, the bronze device with a protective and decorative coating of chrome has the best characteristics.

In most cases, the drinking water tap comes complete with a filter system designed for installation under the sink.

The installation location is chosen so that you can easily draw water into a pot or kettle. At the same time, the filled tank should stand stably in the sink, since it is inconvenient to hold it in your hands: the filter elements have a lot of resistance and the water is typed quite slowly. The spout nose should be directed into the sink: if the tank overflows, water will go into the sewer.

Important! The installation of a drinking tap is carried out at a sufficient distance from the mixer so that they can be separately serviced (water collection, dishwashing, cleaning and repair).

Installation of a drinking tap

The second hole on the sink, as a rule, is absent, and it must be drilled. Ordinary drills for stainless steel are not suitable. They must be diamond coated. First, a hole with a diameter of 7 mm is drilled, and then - 13 mm, under the diameter of the tap.

The tap is inserted into the hole and secured with a nut. Then a flexible hose from the filter is connected to it.

Drinking taps can be lever type or with a box. Their design is simple, and the service life is quite long. The most common malfunction is incomplete closure, accompanied by dripping water through the nozzle.

Sealing of all threaded connections should be done using fluoroplastic tape that meets hygiene standards or anaerobic sealant.

Repairs

The installed tap does not need to be removed from the sink for repair. Information on how to disassemble the crane can be found in the instructions. Usually, when a leak appears, the axle box is unscrewed and replaced with a new one. In the lever structure, the nose is pulled out: if you pull it, turning to the right and left, it is pulled out. After that, you can disassemble the lever. To eliminate leakage, replace the rubber stem nozzle.

If water leaks from the tap, the rubber rings on the nozzle must be replaced. It is important to carefully select them in size, since thin rings will let water through, and with thick pipes they will not stand back.

Another unpleasant feature is the loosening of the spout mount. It should be removed and the gasket fitted with a split ring made of PVC.

Combined faucet for drinking water

A separate tap for drinking water is not always convenient. In some cases, the optimal solution may be combined devicefrom which both untreated and filtered water can be supplied. It differs from a conventional mixer by the presence of an additional channel with an opening on a common spout for drinking water, as well as a separate valve on the body. The device is much more convenient than two separate taps in a common sink: water of different quality can be supplied from one spout.

Devices are made of different materials:

• bronze or brass;
• plastic or ceramic.

However, you will have to pay for convenience, and a lot: the price of such a mixer is high. You can choose cheaper plastic products, but they do not last long, although they have some advantages in terms of lack of corrosion and alkalization.

The best are bronze faucets with ceramics inside.

Products may have coatings imitating marble, copper, platinum, gold, silver. The handle mechanism may be lever or valve.

Installation of a combination crane

Installing a combination mixer is similar to installing a standard device. The only difference is that you need to connect a third hose with filtered water.

1. A filter is installed under the sink. At its entrance, a valve is installed that shuts off the supply of cold water from the water supply. It closes when mounting the mixer.
2. In the regular hole of the sink with a lock nut, the mixer is fixed with a seal with rubber gaskets.
3. Cold, hot and filtered water hoses are connected to the mixer. They should not be twisted and tightened so as not to damage the seals.
4. The water supply to the mixer and filters is turned on, after which the system is checked for leaks.
