Homemade induction boiler - 2 design options

Induction water heaters are good in that they consume the least amount of electricity compared to other types of electric boilers for heating. However, not everyone can afford such a pleasure, especially for use in suburban areas, which are visited rarely. This is connected with the high price of products, which can vary from 25 to 100 thousand rubles. To still please yourself with such an electric heater and at the same time save your own money, we recommend making an induction boiler by yourself. On how to build at home, read on!

Idea # 1 - Simple vortex heater

How the vortex heater operates

First of all, familiarize yourself with how this type of heating works and what are its advantages over alternative boiler options. To all questions you will be answered by the video provided below!

You will need:

  1. plastic pipe with a length of internal diameter not more than 50 mm;
  2. steel wire, diameter not more than 7 mm;
  3. 2 adapter for connection to the heating system( pipes);
  4. metal mesh with small cells;
  5. copper enamelled wire;
  6. high-frequency inverter;
  7. insulation material.

Having prepared all the materials, you can proceed to the assembly of the induction boiler yourself. First of all, cut the steel wire into 5-centimeter pieces. After that, close one of the sides of the plastic pipe with a grid and fall asleep inside the cut wire. The amount of material must be such that the volume of the homemade article is completely "jammed" with wire. Then the second end is closed with a metal mesh that will prevent the wire from spreading through the heating system.

When the filling is prepared, it is necessary to independently make the connection points of the homemade vortex boiler to the heating main. For this, the adapters are fixed on both sides of the pipe by welding or threaded connection.

Next, you need to make the heating element of the device yourself - the induction coil. All you need is to wind around the pipe about 90-100 turns of copper wire. Be sure to follow the step between the turns, so that the homemade unit works evenly. After full winding, the ends of the copper wire are connected to the inverter and, eventually, the boiler body can be assembled and insulated with a suitable heat and electrically conductive material.

The homemade heater must only be started after it has been connected to the heating medium - water. If you turn on the inverter without water in the housing, the pipe will instantly melt and all your efforts will be in vain.

That's the whole instruction that allows you to make an induction boiler from improvised tools at home. This homemade can be installed on any part of the heating system, but because of a not very attractive appearance, we recommend that you hide it away from the eyes.

You can clearly see the principle of the device in this photo:

Core heating by inverter

As you can see, the core inside is heated red-hot, which is due to the electromagnetic field. Tests of the assembled device are advisable to look at the video example:

Idea # 2 - More powerful device

To make a powerful induction boiler yourself, you just need to be able to use welding. In fact, the assembly technology is not too complicated and any self-taught electrician can handle it, as you will see after reading.

So, from the materials you will need:

  • two pieces of metal pipes of different diameters;
  • copper enamelled wire;
  • two adapters for heating pipes( for supply and return);
  • heat-insulating jacket;
  • three-phase inverter.

The drawing of the homemade heater looks like this: Visual drawing

As you can see, one pipe needs to be welded inside the other to get a hollow tank in the form of a cylinder. Also, using a welding machine, you need to "cut" two pipes into the cold water supply and the hot water outlet to the heating system.

Further, as shown in the diagram above, it is necessary to wind the copper wire on the body of the induction boiler. Winding, as you understand, will serve as a heating element and, when in contact with the coolant, it will heat it. Over the created structure, it is necessary to pull the heat-insulating cover, then open the water supply and test the system.
