Customers - a married couple, bought this apartment in the suburbs, planning to use it as a dacha: garden joys were not tempted, and it seemed too troublesome to have a country house. Therefore, the project was originally designed taking into account that this is not a place for the permanent residence of the family.
The apartment is a studio in the attic. One of the conditions for the designer was - to arrange a bed in such a way that at the entrance to the apartment he was not visible. On these two points - an apartment as a summer residence and a hidden bedroom, and the concept of interior design was built.

Before the beginning of all the works the room looked like this:( picture 1).
At the highest point, the ceiling had a height of 3800 mm. Based on the photos of the construction of the house from the developer's site, it was suggested that if you remove the gyro, you can get a total height of four or more meters, and this will be enough to create a two-level space. Given the layout of the apartment - the attic floor and sloped ceilings, and the fact that in the upper level there should only be a bedroom, where most of the time people are lying down, it was decided to arrange mezzanines - a semi-storey built into the volume of a double-light room.
From idea to implementation of
After dismantling, the theoretical assumptions about the construction of the roof truss system were fully confirmed. The rafter system was made of metal beams, tightened with bolts. Considering the material of the rafters - metal, the rafters were located in steps of 4.5 meters. That is, over the area of the apartment was only one rafters. And two more passed over the walls. In the photo, after dismantling, a bolt made of two metal corners is visible.
For the embodiment of the idea of the mezzanine, the bolt was obstructed. And to remove it simply because it interferes, it is impossible, otherwise the design of the rafter system will be violated. To be able to arrange the mezzanine and not to break the strength of the roof, we decided to cut off the bolt, and the rafters to support the beam with a metal pillar, which will later become the support for the mezzanine ceiling.
But it's easy to say and hard to do. The required length of the metal beam for the pole was greater than it could without difficulty raise into an apartment located on the fifth floor. Therefore, the pillar was made composite: the upper part of the pipe section 100x100 mm was welded to the beam of the rafters, and the lower( the missing lower section) from welded reinforcement. The lower part of the reinforcement was sewn into the formwork and poured into the solution( Figure 3).
The upper part of the wall, which did not exist, because the ridge beam rested not against the wall directly, but on metal supports, which in turn leaned on a brick wall, were laid with foam concrete.
Overlapping of the mezzanine
The overlapping of the mezzanine according to the project is based on the resulting pillar, the wall and the later partition, which separated the fireplace and the cupboard.(Figure 4 and Figure 5).
To support the wall in a brick wall, a 150 mm wide bar was made, where a board was mounted, measuring 150x50 mm. To this board the wooden beams of the ceiling were fixed. The assembly board was drowned in the wall so that the force was transferred to the entire wall, and not just to the anchors of the board fixing. To the metal pillar, the wooden beams of double planks 150x50 mm were bolted( Fig. 6).
. The plywood was laid in two layers on the beams of the overlap; mineral wool was placed in the ceiling to prevent soundproofing( so that the steps from above could not be heard)( Fig. 7).

. The device in the second-level apartment required more interference in the construction of the apartment. Since the apartment is located on the top floor, under the roof, enclosing the structure from above, is not a concrete overlapping, but rafters, wooden crate, heat insulation, wind, hydroprotective and vapor barrier membranes, as well as metal roofing.
As a thermal insulation in this house used ecowool material - finely pulverized cellulose, and to be precise, waste paper, old newspapers. Material, maybe good, I can not say anything. But in this case, it was clearly laid out with irregularities, because it ceased to have a dense structure. The ground cellulose is impregnated with a special compound and blown out with a strong stream of air. Impregnation glues the particles, and the air compresses them into a dense layer. In this case, the heater hung between the boards of the crate, loose cushions, which were held only by the vapor barrier inseted from below. In some places, the heat insulator was wet. Therefore, it was decided to replace the entire section of the roof above the apartment with two layers of foam 100 mm thick. The total thickness of the insulation - 200 mm.
Other
structures The upper part of the metal pillar was sewn into a box of gypsum. Below the ceiling, a metal pole was sewn with a wooden frame with foam plastic to prevent the formation of condensation.(Figure 8) and lined with wooden panels( Figure 9).
A drywall was made from the gypsum board, along the ceiling cut-out. This box hides the air intake duct( Figure 10).
In addition to these structures, a chimney duct of the fireplace located on the first floor, as well as a pipe of the heating duct of the fireplace, is hidden in the gyro box( Fig. 11).
Finishing
After the main installation works have been completed, the finishing has begun.
Floors
The floors in the bedroom on the mezzanine are made of lap pile and lacquered.(Figure 12) On the mezzanine, apart from the bedroom, it was possible to allocate a shower room as well. On the whole mezzanine floor - both in the bedroom and in the shower room, the floors are wooden, from the larch. The entire floor of the first level is finished with natural stone.
Ceilings
The sloping ceiling of the bedroom, however, like in the whole apartment, is trimmed with an ordinary clapboard( Fig. 13).
As a decorative coating, we used acrylic white lacquer. On the tree it does not look dazzling white, but slightly beige-pink. Through the varnish, the texture of the wood remains visible. The lining as a finishing material was chosen for three reasons.
- The first is to support the design concept of a "country house".
- The second reason was quite utilitarian: the layout is such that in most of the ceiling, due to the fact that it is inclined, the ceiling surfaces can be touched by hand. Therefore, to make it normal - doom to quick pollution. A wooden ceiling, if it gets dirty, you can just wash it.
- The third reason - the frame for installing drywall "will eat" a lot of precious space. Obreshetnetnik for lining is much more compact.
More about the ceilings: the ceiling of the resulting living room and hallway - space under mezzanines, also wooden. For him used plywood, also covered with white lacquer. Walls
