Bubbles may appear on the surface if the paint is applied to poorly dried after puttying or a dirty surface. The formation of cracks occurs if the paint is applied in a thick or uneven layer. If the paint is prepared on high-quality varnish and applied a thin layer, after drying it has a shiny surface.

When heated by solar rays, the steel roofing of the house roof expands. Preparation for painting the roof

The roof of the house must be carefully prepared for painting. A properly prepared surface will ensure reliable adhesion of the material. Preparation is to clean the surface of dust, dirt and rust. Severely rusted places are cleaned with steel brush to metal. After this, the dust is swept away and immediately the first layer of paint is applied. Then, the presence of cracks in the roof or the punctured areas formed during the cleaning of snow by steel scrapers is checked. To identify the smallest holes, it is better to inspect the roof on a clear, sunny day. Inspection is best done together - one with a long stick examines the roof from the bottom of the attic and shows a hole with a stick, another marks these holes with chalk. After that, defects can be fixed. With their own hands, this will be done more qualitatively and more reliably than with the involvement of third parties.

The repair of the roof should begin with the coating of holes on the ridge, carefully smoothing the putty with a knife. Putty is made from chopped chalk, kneaded on linseed oil. The putty obtained in this way turns out to be strong and elastic, well retained on the surface, when cured, does not give cracks. The same putty can close small holes in the plane. You can put a tissue patch on the putty layer and then paint over it.

Holes in the roof are patched with dense fabric or tarpaulin. Cut out the size of the hole patch impregnated with liquid paint from the minium on linseed oil and, wringing from excess paint, put on the hole, smoothing with a hard brush. The third time paint is applied after 5-10 days. On average, the oil paint completely dries out within 10 days. Such a color-drying regime guarantees high quality of work. A second color is used after two days of drying the first layer, but this practice does not give the proper quality. Painting the roof is carried out using the same technology as when painting walls or ceilings. The wear of the brushes when painting a new roof is less than when painting the old coating.

In the process of painting the roof, the paint is shaded along the slope. First, the descent of the roof is painted, then the work continues from the ridge to the descent. On the brush is typed a little paint, which is shaded by a thin layer.

It is recommended to work on the roof in shoes on a felt sole or in felt boots. You can tie a felt sole to ordinary shoes. Felt does not slip on steel and does not destroy a fresh layer of paint.
