How can the detector be adjusted?

In modern motion sensors( DD), you can adjust the sensitivity, illumination, light off delay time and installation angle.

All these parameters, with the correct setting, can save up to 50% of electricity, which is a very significant indicator. However, it should immediately be noted that not all three motion sensors have three regulators. In older models, you can adjust only two parameters - the delay time and the sensitivity or the delay time and the illumination level, as in the photo below:

Angle of installation

The first thing to do is to correctly adjust the DD detection zone. In modern models of fixtures, the detectors are represented by separate elements fixed on the hinge. That's it you just need to set up in such a way that the infrared rays were directed at the maximum possible detection area. Here an important role is played not only by the installation angle, but also by the height at which you decide to connect the motion sensor. The optimal and most unsuccessful installation methods are discussed in the diagrams below:

Sensitivity

The second parameter that you must configure is the sensitivity, which is indicated on the SENS body. As a rule, a wheel with a range from min( low or -) to max( high or +) is used for adjustment. The sensitivity setting of the motion sensor is the most difficult. You must adjust the parameter so that the detector does not work on small animals, but at the same time turns on the light when a person is detected. In this case, it is recommended to immediately adjust the SENS to the maximum, wait until the lamp turns off and check how the sensor will operate.

Gradually, you need to reduce sensitivity until you find the "golden mean".We draw your attention to the fact that if you have a large dog in the yard, you will not be able to configure the sensor so that it does not react to it.

Illumination of

The next setting is the illumination threshold, indicated on the "LUX" case. This parameter is necessary in order to adjust the sensor to turn on the light only at dark. For example, why lighting should be turned on when motion is detected during daylight, it still does not work. At the first setting, it is recommended to set the maximum value of LUX and, when evening comes, to adjust the appropriate time at which the sensor will operate.

If your detector does not have a LUX controller, you can additionally connect an ambient light sensor. In this case it will turn out all the same to adjust the searchlight so that it is switched on only at night.

Delay time

Well, the last parameter is the on-delay, indicated by "TIME".Time to adjust is easiest, the range can range from 5 seconds to 10 minutes. Here you have to decide for yourself what time it is better to set a delay. There are sensors in which the delay time increases with each new activation. At the initial setting, it is recommended to set this knob to the minimum mark so that you can quickly check the parameters.
