Glass for interior doors - features of
operation The variety of types, beauty and practicality are the main advantages of this material. Although previously fragility was a major drawback, now there are separate types, which in strength, fire resistance and wear resistance are not inferior to metal. It is worth noting that recently, many people are interested in replacing the glass in the interior door, even if it is a whole, because of the cheapness compared to the cost of replacing the entire door structure.
A modern version of the material for interior doors will emphasize any interior. The glass is hardened and can have a thickness of up to 10 mm, and its impact resistance allows it to withstand severe loads. Despite this, you should not slam the doors very much, and you also need to avoid the appearance of a draft that can slam the door with force.
If the blade is broken for some reason, it is necessary to remove all the fragments and replace it, since the doors without glass are not aesthetically pleasing, and also do not perform their noise-isolation and other functions.
Installing the glass on the door - what do we have to do?
Replacement of broken glass in the door will consist of such basic actions:
- dismantling of the broken cloth;
- preparation of a new glass cloth for cutting;
- cutting, cutting and breaking the canvas;
- installation and fixing.
The installation of glass in the door can be done using rails, wooden frames or by placing it through a slot. Shards of a broken former insert should be removed, having previously removed the glazing beads or the frame. Before replacing the glass in the door, it is necessary to cut a new one. Before cutting it should be prepared.
As the dirty surface with oily stains is cut badly and at insufficient depth, and when it breaks it can easily split, it should be wiped with rags on both sides or washed with a soapy water solution. If the material was stored before the start of work at low temperatures, then before cutting it must be acclimatized at room temperature, and then wipe with a clean rag.
To avoid inefficient use of the material, when a significant part of it goes to waste, the cutting plan is first better done on paper. Cutting the glass, if it is transparent, can subsequently be used to replace the window or the production of a photo frame.
Replacing the glass in the door - we correctly cut the canvas
The main thing that should be taken into account when cutting: the installed glass covers the folds to three-fourths of their width, that is, there must be a small gap between the rebate edge and the edge of the blade. For example, if the distance between the folds of the folds is 1000 mm and the width is 500 mm, then the glass should be 995-998 mm and 494-495 mm, respectively.
This gap allows you to replace the glass in the interior door without any problems, and also protect it from destruction in case of swelling of wood.
The cutting blade is placed on a flat surface. If a complex cutting scheme is provided, then a sheet of paper with a drawing can be placed under the working object. A straight line is cut with a ruler and a glass cutter. You need to cut yourself, evenly pressing the tool along the entire cutting line, they need to hold it only once. For curvilinear cutting it is necessary to make patterns from plywood or fiberboard. The glass breaks to the side of the notch.
After the glass is replaced in the door, the glazing beads or the frame are put in place and fixed. It is very easy to change glass in a door yourself, and yet it is necessary to have a certain minimum of knowledge and sleight of hand, especially at the time of cutting a new cloth.
