Acrylic wall emulsion - everything you need to know

Emulsions are produced on a water basis, without the use of toxic chemicals. The paint components are not completely dissolved, but are in a suspended state. Therefore, after application to the surface, water evaporates, and the colorant remains, forming a thin polymer film.

Acrylic wall emulsions have a number of undeniable advantages of :

• due to their inherent molecular structure, they breathe;
• the humidity level in the room does not affect the coverage and operation;
• are equally effective for external and internal works;
• staining is easily and evenly( due to water base and thin film formation);
• dries quickly;
• Acrylic emulsion is not dangerous to humans and the environment( does not contain toxic substances), does not cause allergies;
• has remarkable fire-fighting characteristics;
• painted surfaces are easy to clean and preserve their original appearance up to 15 years.

Acrylic emulsions have several varieties.

Acrylic silicone paint is used in the manufacture of high-quality compounds for outdoor work, does not form foam, and at low temperatures turns into a film. The film has a gloss and the ability to self-clean, is used to create a protective layer, for external and internal painting works. Styrene-acrylic paint is durable and externally very solid. Its layer is shiny, you can say glossy. And the properties of the coating are as follows: water resistance, scratch resistance, resistance to alkaline environment. Therefore, often styrene acrylic is used for waterproof coating. Purely water-acrylic paint is ideal for decorative and applied works.

There is also modified acrylic emulsion , its application is typical for plaster, foam concrete, brick, particle board, concrete, wallpaper, gypsum, recommended for wet rooms( bathroom, kitchen).

Wall emulsion is not whimsical, but still. ..

First you need to prepare a work place and an object for applying the emulsion. When priming, clean the surface of the dust. The emulsion for walls is applied only on a dry and clean basis. Prepare the surface - fill the flaws with putty. Sand to an absolutely smooth state. Remember: acrylic emulsion does not hide shortcomings, but emphasizes them!

If the staining is not for the first time, clean the surface thoroughly from blisters and debris of the old paint, walk through the sandpaper, once again go through the filler and sandpaper, and finally remove the dust. Before applying a common layer of paint, paint over the plastered areas. After preparation of the surface, it is recommended to apply 1 coat of Primer Acryl Grundierung .

The list of tools is not large and is available at any hardware store: rollers, brush, spatula.

Take directly for the acrylic emulsion

The prepared substrate should be firm and dry, free of dust and grease. Correctly primed surface will look matte. With fungal lesions, the presence of mold should be cleaned by hand and disinfected with SUPER-DOM impregnation. Stir the paint( emulsion) thoroughly before use. If in your opinion the paint is dense, add 5% water. Stir.

It is recommended to cover walls in several layers, usually 2 or 3. When first coating impregnated walls, dilute the paint to 20% with water, depending on the moisture permeability of the substrate. Let's dry each layer of the coating. If you have to paint old surfaces, paint should not be diluted.

Paint is applied by roller, brush or special spray. When spraying, protect eyes and respiratory tract with special protective equipment( glasses, respirator).The paint itself is not toxic, but do not be too careless. When applying the emulsion on the primed surfaces, you need to put 2 layers, and on the unprimed - 3. Each layer of paint dries out about 2-4 hours, so plan your time for work in advance.
