One of the newfangled ways of lighting a living space is the use of spotlights. No chandeliers hanging above the head, wall lamps and, especially, floor lamps - it's all in the past. Although no, do not offend and underestimate the chandeliers, their potential is quite high, despite the impressive size and method of attachment. But, whatever one may say, the spotlights quietly survive and them. Small size, almost not occupying space, sometimes even the most bizarre shape, these lighting devices cope with their task no worse than their predecessors.

A relatively simple device and the possibility of using modern and inexpensive materials in the design makes them available to virtually all segments of the population. Along with the lamps designed to work with ordinary incandescent lamps, new models are also used, using energy-saving lamps, diode lights and even the latest gas-discharge sources of daylight.
Each is designed to work with a light bulb of a certain power and voltage. Some lamps are made to work from 12v voltage, others are powered by a common network of 220v. It should be remembered that if certain conditions are necessary for the luminaire's work, then they must be strictly observed. You can not install a ceiling light for a twelve volt voltage network and connect it to a city network of 220v, this is fraught with fire or short circuit, at best. For luminaires operating from 12v, a step-down transformer is used. As with other lighting fixtures, energy-saving light bulbs can be used for spotlights.

In addition to differences in operating voltage, spotlights can differ in shape of the seat. For installation, one requires a round hole, for others a square or even a triangular one. The same landing holes can be of different diameters, the bigger the luminaire, the larger the hole will need to be cut to install it.
Actually, the installation of spotlights by the own hands is a matter of no-nonsense, there are practically no subtleties.
At the first stage, a landing hole of the correct size is created, for round luminaires a circular saw or, as it is also called, a crown is used. For materials of different hardness, there is a separate type of crown. For concrete - with carbide tacks, for tiles - with diamond dusting, and for soft materials such as wood or gypsum board, a crown made of ordinary steel is used. For the holes of the configurations different from the circle, a saw for plasterboard or a Bulgarian for concrete is used.

When the hole is prepared, the luminaire must be connected to the mains. Here there should be no difficulties, the main thing is not to mix where the phase, zero and grounding. Even if you confuse, then there is nothing terrible in it, it simply will not work. It will be necessary to carefully understand the connection and perform it correctly.

It remains to deal with small, install it in the landing hole on the ceiling. A spotlight is fixed in the slotted hole using special clamps. To install it, the clamps expose and insert the lamp into the cutout hole. The spring-loaded clips themselves are installed in their place and fix the lighting device in the hole. Before full installation, it is advisable to check its operation, in order not to remove the lamp from the hole several times. Then screw in the light bulb and apply voltage to it.

Spotlights fit equally well for lighting furniture, and for ceilings from gypsum board or even stretch ceilings. They are able to transform the room in which they are installed, in a more beautiful and original.
