We warm the roof of the attic correctly from the inside

On how to insulate the roof of the attic from the inside, interests many homeowners.

Mansard - a special room in the house.

According to the research, more than 25% of the energy lost through the attic is used to heat the house.

By equipping the attic, the owner of the building solves two problems at once: saves resources for heating the house and gets an additional room for their needs.

The attic is most often used for an office, bedroom or a creative workshop.

In order to provide the appropriate level of comfort, it is necessary to properly insulate the roof of the attic. And do not forget about the warming of the pediments.

Features of the

technology In the construction of a new house, all the work on finishing and warming the attic space is carried out in a certain order.

Depending on the technology used, the insulation is made from the outside or from the inside.

Each method has its advantages and disadvantages.

The situation is different when an attic of an already constructed house is being demolished under the attic.

In this case, the work on the insulation of the attic must be carried out only from the inside. And before you start working with your own hands, you need to thoroughly prepare.

It is best to compose a step-by-step plan and compile a cost estimate.

The scheme of warming

In this process, you need to choose a heater that meets all the requirements that are contained in the SNIP.

The insulation must have the following qualities:

  • with low thermal conductivity;
  • high moisture resistance;
  • incombustibility;
  • environmental cleanliness.

Properly selected and packaged heat insulator will provide the appropriate living conditions.

In a room it is necessary to maintain a stable temperature and humidity level, regardless of the season and weather outside the window.

In order to create such an atmosphere, it is necessary to insulate the roof over the attic from the inside.

It is more convenient to insulate an attic with a broken roof. With this configuration of the roof, the useful volume of the room is greater than that of a conventional gable roof.

The video shows the process of warming the roof over the attic. The peculiarity of the situation in this case lies in the fact that the roofing material is already fixed on the rafters.

This can be slate, metal tile or metal profiled sheet. Regardless of the type of roofing profile, the roof insulation procedure from the inside is carried out using the same technology.

This work requires accuracy and with strict adherence to the sequence of actions it can be done by yourself.

Sequence of work execution

Taking into account the roof warming from the inside you need to clearly understand the structure of the so-called roofing "pie".

This structure is as follows:

  • roofing material;
  • crate;
  • waterproofing coating;
  • heater;
  • vapor barrier coating;
  • finishing material.

As can be seen from the above list, the heater is protected from the environment from both the top and bottom. The quality of this protection must be paid special attention.

More precisely, to ensure that the membranes were stacked correctly. In this context, it must be emphasized that it is not recommended to use a polyethylene film as an insulating material.

The membrane, which is used to protect the heater from atmospheric moisture, only transmits water in one direction.

If water vapor is released from the heater, they go out freely. At the same time moisture from the atmosphere does not penetrate to the heater plate.

The same applies to the vapor barrier coating. Water vapor, which is present in the room, does not penetrate to the heater. The film does not miss it.

But the moisture accumulated in the heater array easily comes out. When laying these membranes, you need to orient them correctly.

It is important to remember that there must be an air gap between the roofing material and the waterproofing foil.

Material selection

As the heater, which meets all the requirements above, the following materials can be used:

  • basalt slabs;
  • glass wool;
  • polystyrene foam;
  • extruded polystyrene foam.

The heat insulator is selected depending on various circumstances. For a broken roof, foam is more suitable. Plates of polystyrene are easily processed and fastened from the inside in the allotted places.

At the same time, it has low vapor permeability. As a result, moisture will gradually accumulate in the room.

Practice shows that when using the attic under the bedroom, it is better not to use polystyrene foam.

When insulating a roof roof from the inside, it is not advisable to use glass wool. It does not hold well on sloping surfaces. Over time, cracks and loses its original shape.

Basalt plates have high mechanical strength, have zero thermal conductivity and do not absorb moisture. Basalt has elasticity and due to this it keeps well between the rafters.

With a properly installed roof structure, the distance between the rafters is 60 cm. This is the width of the basalt slabs.

The video shows how the insulating membranes and thermal insulation are laid when the attic roof is insulated.

Procedure

When proceeding to the insulation of a long-established roof, you need to have a heater, a film and tools. The area of the roof is easy to determine.

This value is required in order to purchase the required volume of insulation. Since the insulation will be carried out from the inside, you will need wooden bars or slats.

Thermal insulation of the entire roof is carried out in stages.

In the span between the rafters, a waterproofing membrane is pulled and fastened to the rafters using wooden rails.

The air gap must be at least 3 cm between the stretched film and the roofing material. The membrane should not have wrinkles and wrinkles.

The next step in the gap between the rafters is installing insulation sheets. Install and fix the heater correctly.

If these are basaltic mats, they will hold themselves for a while due to their elasticity. Often it is necessary to lay two or even more layers of insulation.

After the insulation is fixed in its place, it must be covered with a vapor barrier membrane. Mount the membrane to the rafters using a stapler or using wooden slats.

And already on top of the vapor barrier is a finishing finish. For this, plywood or plasterboard is often used.

General rules

The first rule that can be formulated, summarizing many years of experience - is best to equip and insulate the attic roof during the construction of the house.

When the design is carried out in accordance with the current rules and regulations, then the house is built better and faster.

The video shows how the roof is insulated from the inside and outside during the construction process.

Video:

The second rule that must be fulfilled is mandatory, concerns the protection of the heater against moisture. The moisture that is present in the air in the vapor state.

Thermal insulation material must completely cover from the inside all the surfaces of the roof and gable. Between metal and insulation must be an air layer.

It's better to let it be a little more than the size prescribed by the standards, than it will not be at all.

All materials that are used to insulate the attic, must have the appropriate certificates - sanitary, technical, environmental.
