What is roller blinds

Roller shutters are fashionable, modern and elegant. Thanks to innovations and improvement of models, today such designs can be monolithic and inaccessible, being protectors of personal property, and can serve as decorative blinds or curtains. Thanks to the attractive appearance of the roller shutters are able to decorate any interior.

Shutters have eight classes of burglar resistance - it all depends on the material from which the design is made:

  1. P1-P2.Classic and plumbing roller blinds are unlikely to protect against penetration, but they serve as an excellent protective against wind, noise and dust. Basically these are roller rolling profiles.
  2. P3-P5.If you need protection against penetration and vandalism, pay attention to extruded or steel profiles - this material is used to make gates and grilles.
  3. P6-P8.This is the most reliable protection, since such roller shutters are most often armored and bulletproof.

In addition, shutters are mechanical and electrical. In turn, mechanical shutters are divided into inertia and gearboxes - depending on the drive, which ensures the rotation of the blade.

The shutters are installed on doors and windows, on gates and shop windows, like partitions in the room instead of protective screens, on inclined roofs and winter gardens, and also as a protective awning for trailers of "pickup" type cars.

If you need to cover a large opening with roller blinds, choose a profile of increased strength. In addition, note that for inclined planes there are specific shutters.

The installation of roller shutters is a complicated matter, as the process itself requires advanced training from those who will perform the work. It is on how the work is done and the durability of the structure will depend, and, importantly, its efficiency.

Roller shutter installation:

instruction If you decide to install roller blinds with your own hands, carefully read the installation instructions for conventional roller shutters. Knowing the basics of this process and a little practice, you can independently carry out work on installing roller shutters on windows or on doors.

The most important thing is to properly prepare the opening before proceeding with the installation of profiles: it must be smooth, without cracks and incrustations.

Types of mounting

  1. Mounting built-in. Mounting roller shutters is carried out inside the opening - directly fastening is performed to the end of the opening. This method has the main advantage - the box where the profile is located is hidden inside the opening, not protruding beyond it. But this advantage is a drawback, as the light opening diminishes( just the height and width of the box).
  2. Installation of consignment note. Installation is carried out on the opening, and the fastening is carried out on the facade, so the box is located above the opening. Advantage: there is no reduction in the light opening, when the roller shutters are opened they are not visible from the room. Disadvantages - the box can strongly protrude against the facade.
  3. Assembly when the box is inside. With this option, the roller shutters are attached to the end of the opening, but in such a way that the box is inside. Advantages: the appearance of the building does not deteriorate. As for the shortcomings, the shutters are far from the opening - just this place is occupied by a box.
  4. Installation when the box is built in. Installation is carried out directly in the opening, while the box is brought into the niche created specifically for these purposes above the opening. Advantages: due to the fact that the shutters are closely fitting, the aesthetic appearance, as well as this type of installation, significantly increases the protective functions of the profile, since the roller shutters are firmly mounted in the facade. As for the shortcomings - during the installation it will be necessary to slightly "spoil" the facade and the interior of the room.
  5. Mounting built-in( internal).Installation is carried out exclusively indoors. Advantages: aesthetic appearance, increased degree of protection. Disadvantages: unfortunately, the glass unit remains unprotected.
  6. Installation of consignment note( internal). The shutters must be mounted in the opening, but in such a way that the light space is preserved. Advantages: increased reliability, attractive appearance. Disadvantages: unprotected double-glazed windows.

How to choose fasteners

Depending on the type of installation that will be used and what the opening is made of, various fasteners are used. The installation of roller shutters on doors or windows is possible with the following fasteners.

  1. Concrete, stone, brick usual: plastic dowels, which have screwed or driven elements, as well as steel anchors of at least 30 mm.
  2. Brick hollow: steel anchors depth not less than 65 mm.
  3. Metal: Self-tapping screws.
  4. Wood: stud bolts or screws.

Stages of operation

The set includes: one box, one roller shutter, two tires for sliding and assembly.

Once you are sure that the opening is prepared, you must proceed directly to the installation.

  1. Measure the opening where the roller blinds will be installed.
  2. Prepare the side rails - mark the places where the fasteners will be located.
  3. Drill in the places you marked through holes.
  4. on one side of the rail to make one hole, which will be used for the decorative stub-handle.
  5. Insert fasteners into the box, which will fix the side rails.
  6. Secure the side rails in the box.
  7. The construction is attached to the wall( opening).
  8. Do not forget to check all the work with a level.
  9. Where the holes for fastening are made, it is necessary to mount.
  10. Lock the box on the wall.
  11. In the event that the shutters have automatic components of the drive, you will need to make a hole in the wall where the cable will pass. It is best to do this directly through the box - then the cable will not have "access" to the street.
  12. Connect the cable to the unit to be controlled. It is mainly attached to the wall or to the base station - it will catch the signal from the control panel.
  13. If the roller shutter has manual control, then pull the cable to the block and install the handle, securing the cable.
  14. The bar, on which the profile will be wound, must be wrapped in a package beforehand - this will protect the blade from damage and scratches.
  15. Wind the roller shutter on the bar.
  16. Attach the fasteners to the end of the cloth.
  17. For roller shutters located on the outside, a bolt is required. He will be a good blocker. Thanks to the deadbolt, the shutters will be impossible to lift.
  18. Now you need to set the bar - it will tightly hold the roller shutter.
  19. If the roller shutters are located from the outside, you need to drill with the help of a drill at the head bolts so that they can not be unscrewed. Then you need to install the stubs on them.
