Tools and materials

  • torch;
  • stainless steel wire 1.5 - 2 mm thick;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • drill with drill bits 2.5-3 mm in diameter.

Preparing the grain storage tank

First of all, by starting the production of the feeder, conveniently turn the lamp on the workbench and the metal hacksaw cut the bottom in such a way that a hole of 4-5 cm in diameter is formed. Through this hole, food will be poured on the podstavku-table for birds.

Then drill holes for the wire on which the table will hang. On this table will be placed food, and will be sitting birds. The holes should be located near each lamp stand, approximately in the middle between the edge of the base and the cut.

Make the base of the feeder

Then make the same holes in the middle of the height of the base of the lantern. Holes should be located closer to the edge of the figure, and not in the middle.

To make a table on which the food will be poured, measure and cut out the plywood. It must be inserted into the plane of the base. First, for the convenience of further work, it should not be fixed to the base.

We put the plywood workpiece on the desktop, put the top part of the lamp on it and wire the places where the holes are located.

We cut the wire with 25 cm lengths, at one end we make knots or we twist the rings so that the wire is fixed. We pass the wire from the outside into the holes of the base of the lantern inward.

Drill the holes in the marked places on the plywood table and through them draw the wire. Thus, the table is held on the bottom.

We connect the base to the top

The upper part of the wire is inserted into the holes on the top part of the lantern. It is necessary in this way to calculate the length of the wire so that between the top of the lamp and the table there are at least 3 cm of space so that the grain can quietly spill out of the upper container. Fix the wire from the inside, also looping it.

Now it remains to build a suspension. If it is not provided for by the design of the flashlight, it is necessary to drill a hole in the upper part so that the feed can be suspended.

You can pour up to 2 kg of bird food at a time in such a feeder. As a feed, you can use sunflower seeds, millet, oats.

Care for this feeder is extremely simple. As feed is eaten it can be poured - it's better to do it together: one loosens the lid and then holds the feeder, the second pours the feed. Periodically, the lantern can be tinted with anti-corrosion lacquer and clean the base of dirt. Birds will probably spread the feed, so it's better to hang the feeder in a place where the husk will not be poured onto anyone's head. It is also possible to fasten small bars with a wire so that birds can sit comfortably on them and eat.
