Tile is frost-resistant - what is the secret of its properties?

What is the difference between frost-resistant tiles, that it is isolated in a separate class of finishing materials? In fact, there is only one difference, and it determines the level of frost resistance. The thing is that ordinary tiles have the property of absorbing moisture, and the more moisture this has, the worse the clutch carries loads in the form of frost. Accordingly, the less moisture absorbs, the stronger it will turn out.

The problem of absorption could be solved with the help of glazing, a process in which the material is coated with a special glazed layer. Also for use on the street there are special natural materials that have low porosity, and therefore without special treatment are considered a good choice for changing weather.

Frost-resistant tiles - advantages and disadvantages

Frost-resistant tile has a huge amount of advantages of and minor cons that do not affect the user. To the positive sides is a fairly attractive appearance.

Indeed, tiles of this kind are offered in more than 100 color configurations, which allows you to choose exactly what you need. The most important plus is, of course, frost resistance. Even at a frost of 40 degrees it will not burst and will not spoil the appearance of the facade, steps or anything else.

Also it is resistant to scratches and reagents. Even the most common paint spilled on the tile, easily rubbed off it with a rag, with no spot left. The material is easy to impart any, even the most intricate form, it does not lose the resistance to external stimuli.

Also important is the ecological part: tiles do not emit harmful substances. From minuses it is possible to note only the price, which is slightly higher than for ordinary tiles, and possible problems with transportation, because if the tile is dropped, it will still break.

The main characteristics that must be frost-resistant floor tiles are frost resistance( maximum critical temperature is from +60 to -50 degrees), long operating period, low water capacity and, perhaps, everything. The size of it, most often - 15x15 cm

How to successfully perform the installation?

Having decided on the installation, clear the site and perform a number of simple preparatory works. The ceramic frost-resistant tile is installed almost in the same way as the usual one, although the glue is also needed frost-resistant.

The site must be cleaned of dust, debris and grease stains( if the finish is in the room). Also remove all foreign objects that will interfere with your work. From the tools you will need a plastic hammer, a usual soft rag with a size of at least 20x20 cm, a drill, a nozzle "mixer" and everything. The process of installing tiles is quite simple.

The first thing to do is mix glue. This is done in a bucket with a drill and a nozzle "mixer".Here the main thing is to do everything exactly as in the instructions. The frost-resistant floor tile is laid as follows: in the furthest corner of the base, a layer of 3-5 mm thick is applied glue, after which we install one tile on it and press it hard.

The next tile is also laid, but beforehand it is divided by spacers with the previous cell. They attach the aesthetic seams, since after removing the spacers themselves, perfectly smooth angles are obtained.

The entire surface is laid in a similar way, and the remnants or excess glue from the tiles should be removed with a cloth, preferably at once. After a day, the spacers can be removed and admired for their perfectly executed work.
