What is penetrative waterproofing Penetron?
Penetron is a penetrating waterproofing that increases frost resistance, strength and waterproofness of concrete. It reliably protects the surface from the effects of alkalis, acids, seawater, groundwater and sewage.
In addition, it is used for those surfaces that have cracks and pores, a width of not more than 0.4 mm. The main features of this building mix are its radioactive safety and ecological purity. Moreover, it can be used in domestic drinking water supply.
The use of this material makes it possible to delay the penetration of water into the concrete body even at high hydrostatic pressure. Concrete, which is treated with this composition, becomes protected from chlorides, carbonates, nitrates, sulfates, etc.
Advantages of the mixture Penetron
Penetron, the instruction of which contains a complete list of technical characteristics, has several advantages:
- It is not subject to mechanical wear, since concrete itself has waterproofing properties and the same service life as waterproofing. Due to this, Penetron's lifetime increases.
- Technological application of penetrating waterproofing. Do not wait until the concrete dries completely. Constructions made of concrete can be processed from different sides because of the penetrating properties of the composition. That is, when the basement is waterproofed, Penetron is laid on all sides without digging it.
- The mixture has a unique property. It "heals" pores and through cracks, as well as other defects with a width of opening no more than 0.5 mm, which appear on the concrete during the operation. If the new cracks, which form, water flows, then the crystals grow.
- Thanks to Penetron the water resistance of concrete is gradually increasing.
- It does not affect the strength, mobility, setting time, etc., except water resistance. Concrete, which is treated with Penetron, retains vapor permeability.
As an additive to concrete in new construction, Penetron-Admix is used, the expenditure of which is written in the instructions. Penetron-Admix, whose instruction includes a step-by-step description of the process, is added to the mixture of concrete during mixing.
How to use Penetron?
Apply Penetron, the consumption of which, on average, 0.5 kg per 1 m2, in two layers. But this depends on the roughness of the surface to be treated. First, put one layer, and the second - on the already seized first. The solution must be distributed evenly throughout the structure without missing.
The Penetron-coated concrete structure requires some care. First, the treated surface must be protected from mechanical damage, low temperatures( below +5 ºС) and rain for three days.
Second, provide the coated surface with the necessary humidity for the same three days. To do this, operate in the following ways: cover the structure with a coarse wet cloth or a film of polyethylene, and a water spraying method can also be used.
Surfaces that are covered from the water pressure side require longer maintenance. For this, it is necessary to maintain the moisture content of the concrete structure within two weeks by the above methods.
