Vertical heating radiators

If you exclude from consideration electric oil appliances, electric convectors and autonomous heating systems with antifreeze, then all other radiators are best called water. As a coolant, ordinary water is used in them, sometimes only rough mechanical cleaning. The engineering network reduces this cost, and the consumer of heat pays for possible negative electrochemical and corrosive processes in the end heating devices.

We have already discussed the performance properties of various metals( cast iron, aluminum, etc.) in heating devices in separate articles, now it's time to talk about the options for their design and layout.

The engineering solution of such heaters has been worked out in the last century, but they have received a new design relatively recently. Regardless of the material and design, the vertical heating elements are simply elongated and squeezed at the sides by conventional radiators. The scheme of their connection to heat networks is usual( options: bottom, lateral or diagonal) in single-tube or double-tube design. Positive qualities are obvious:

  • the widest choice of design developments that can be written in almost any interior, just look at the photo;
  • simple installation, usually provided with a wide selection of fasteners;
  • relative randomness of location selection with appropriate piping layout;
  • large heat transfer area in a compact design, not limited to the window space.

Why did not we all switch to vertical radiators in our apartments, where is the catch? Everything is quite trivial: such units are heating themselves by one third, the efficiency of the upper part, where there is no convective heat transfer, is almost zero, and the price at the capacity of 1760 W in the design variant can be 520-550 euros. For a country cottage is not bad, for a modest Khrushchev is obviously a little expensive.

Tubular radiators

In units of this type there is a certain elegance and simplicity of style. At the same time, the efficiency of devices with a large area of the heat transfer surface is rather low. When recalculating the price of a unit of transmitted capacity, tubular radiators can be classified as the most expensive ones. Increasing the heat transfer of longlines of steel pipes is achieved by increasing their number in depth and increasing the number of sections.

For an example, let's compare some characteristics of the average in the class of tubular radiators from the two best( in terms of sales) manufacturers from Italy and Germany:

Parameter Cordivari Ardesia Zehndtr Charlston
Number of sections 10 10
Dimensions, mm 556х460х107 560х460х62
Power, kW 1100 540
Average price, rub. 6660 7970

You can do the conclusions yourself. The elegant and fashionable 10-section model of the tubular radiator from ZehndtrCharlston will be able to heat slightly more than 5 square meters of area with the price of a kilowatt of useful thermal energy of 14.7 rubles( even in outdated variations of cast-iron batteries this figure is five times better).

Floor heating radiators

In this case, you should not talk about the features of the design, namely the location of the heater. Why put the heater on the floor?

  • load-bearing properties of partitions do not allow placing massive heating radiators( private sector, plasterboard walls) on them, and a good floor can withstand any loads;
  • French windows in the country house, under which standard heaters can not be physically handled, but a reliable heat curtain can not be avoided;
  • is a similar case for office premises, shops and other non-residential premises.

The material and design of the floor heating radiator can be any, the best in such conditions are bimetallic convectors, which not only provide the largest heat exchange area, but also efficient convective heat transfer. The price of the high-quality section( working pressure up to 40 atm, heat output 95 W) of the floor radiator RONDO 150/120 is only 390 rubles with an excellent European design, we found nothing better in this category.
