What is a yoke for tapping into a water pipe and how to use it
Before you start work on an additional connection, be sure to coordinate your actions with the water channel. If this is a private area on which there is no sewage, then the sidebar may not be allowed. In other cases, permission to perform such work is not difficult to obtain.
The preparatory stage is the equipment of an individual water well or make a connection in the near future. In the second case, cutting a pipe into a well will cost a little less.
If there are several ways to pipe a pipe into the well:
- using the connecting fittings of the central water pipe;
- with the use of a welding machine, but under the condition that there is no water pressure in the pipes;
- saddle for tapping into the water pipe( clamp) is used in the case when the installation is done without disconnecting the water supply;
- The standard clamp design consists of two metal strips with fastening elements at the ends. There are also other varieties, for example, in the form of a metal saddle and rubber casing, which replaces the rubber gasket.
- The flange clamp for tie-in is fixed to the pipe by a flange connection, therefore it is not equipped with a valve and a branch pipe.
Any of these clamps can be used for pipes of various materials: cast iron, steel and asbestos-cement pipes. But for the tie into the polyethylene pipe, better use special tools.
Insertion into a pipe under pressure
There are times when it is not possible to cut off water for installation work. It will be much more difficult, but possible. It is important at the same time to comply with all safety regulations and adhere to strict staggered actions.
The coupling cut-out for the tie into the water pipe looks like this:
- First of all, it is necessary to remove the insulation and clean the place that is used for the tie-in. The diameter of the central pipe must be much greater than the diameter of the discharge pipe.
- A clamp with a branch pipe and a flange to which the locking device is attached is fixed to the operating pipe. To this valve is installed a drill pipe.
- Then a milling cutter is inserted through the open latch and gland of the blind flange, the size of which is identical to the size of the required hole. The milling cutter is removed immediately after drilling;
- After this, the locking structure is closed and cleaned.
The process of insertion itself must occur very quickly. The locking device serves just to stop water and prevent it from pouring out.
Cost of clamps
Prices for clamps are different and mainly depend on the material used, sizes, technical features, and also the manufacturer. The production of imported goods, as a rule, is much more expensive, although the quality in this case may be inferior to the products of domestic factories. Also note that the installation of some clamps involves the use of additional devices for tapping under pressure, which is an additional cost, respectively.
Therefore, when buying, be sure to consult with the seller in a construction shop or in the market.
