Types of circulating pumps

The circulating pump generates the movement of the heating medium in any heating system. It accelerates the process of natural circulation, absorbing water and throwing it from the other side with more force. Powered by an electric motor.

Devices are divided into two types:

  1. "Dry".Its design is that it can not come into contact with water( another coolant), because there are sealing stainless elements( rings) between them, which rotate at start-up. They create pressure in the system, different from the external environment, which allows to ensure the tightness of the connections. The efficiency of a dry motor is more than 80%.Strong noise.

Dry are divided into three types:

  • vertical( nozzles are on the same line, installation is carried out in a vertical position);
  • horizontal( suction tube is located on the front of the device, and the second - on the body, set in a horizontal position);
  • block( the coolant gets in a straight line, but leaves in a circular line).

For a dry pump, it is important to have a lubricant, since without it there is a big threat of a malfunction.

  1. "Wet".It rotor is placed in water, which acts as a lubricant and coolant for it. The presence of a special metal vessel, which guarantees isolation to an electric motor and a constant voltage, is inherent. Efficiency is 50%, because the sleeve between the water and the stator is not sealed. Noises much less. Great for home heating.

The efficiency of the device depends largely on the design of the pipes themselves. In particular, a single-pipe heating system constantly consumes a coolant and has almost no temperature differences. The two-pipe system is characterized in exactly the opposite way: by variable use of the coolant and by a perceptible temperature difference.

How to installthe circulation pump in the heating system with your own hands

Before proceeding to the actual installation of the device, carefully read its instruction manual. The basic principles of installation and connection for all models are the same, however, do not forget that the devices can have individual features.

Let's take a step-by-step view of how to install a standard circulator in a heating system.

Scheme of installation of the circulation pump

Step 1. Determine the location in the heating system for the installation of the circulating pump

The circulation pump should be mounted on the return pipe directly near the boiler. At a high temperature of water or other heat carrier, the life of the pump itself will be reduced by several times, which means that repair or replacement will be required much earlier. In addition, the supply contains more air, which in the process of work will accumulate in the device. On the efficiency of the device its location does not affect.

Step 2. Preparation of the installation site for the

pump The boiler must be switched off and the pipes closed with locking devices. Otherwise, the water from the system will have to be drained, which will take a lot of time and effort. Pipes should be allowed to cool to avoid injury, and, if necessary, clean them.

Step 3. Creating a contour for the

When the location with normal access is determined and the pipes are prepared, it is necessary to organize the bypass( in other words, the bypass).With it in case of a malfunction in the operation of the device or failure of the electric supply, the heating system will not stop the operation, the coolant will flow by gravity.

Please note that the diameter of the bypass pipes must be slightly smaller than the diameter of the main pipe.

Only after the completion of the preparatory work it is possible to proceed with the installation of the circulation device on the thread.

Please note! To pump not so much noise, it must be mounted in a horizontal position. If you need to install it in a vertical plane for the sake of space saving, be prepared for the noise to be amplified in connection with the design of the device.

Step 4. Installing the

Filter and Check Valve These elements are optional, but designed to extend the life of the pump and simplify the possibility of repair or replacement. In an open heating system, a check valve is not needed at all, but with closed experts it is strongly recommended to use it.

Step 5. Cut-off fittings

The last stage of installing the circulation pump in the heating system is the installation of the cut-off fittings. Any system is much more durable than even the best pump. Therefore, you should prepare in advance the possibility of problem-free access to the device, allowing it to be repaired and replaced.

After the installation of the circulator, the system is poured with water and bleeds air from it through the central screw.

Please note! If the device is already off during operation, it will be necessary to bleed the air again for a while.
