We all saw how transformed before our eyes, a shed-lined house. This material, swiftly entered into our life, has a fantastic property, to hide all the imperfections of the structure under its geometrically flat surface. There is no great difficulty in installing it on an even plane of walls, but the decoration of window slopes with this material requires special attention. To produce it correctly, observing the necessary technology, you need to familiarize yourself with all the subtleties and nuances of this process.

Siding varieties and selection of additional elements for finishing the slopes

Modern building industry produces two main types of facade siding: vinyl and metal. Vinyl siding is made of polymer material - vinyl. For the reason that it is cheaper than metal, it is used more widely, especially in low-budget private housing construction.

The properties of the polymer have affected the consumer qualities of this material:

  • Moisture does not penetrate through it.
  • The panels of this siding have a rather aesthetic appearance.
  • The surface covered with this material is easy to care for.

In this case, its service life is much less than that of metal, which is due to the fact that over time, plastic deforms and fades under the influence of temperature changes and sunlight.

If the facade of the house is planned to be closed with vinyl siding, then all elements for finishing the slopes of windows should be used from the same material. To the joints and angles on the slopes had a complete and civilized appearance, use some additional details.

For metal siding similar elements are used, but made of metal. In general, metal siding has a more presentable appearance. It is coated with a special polymer coating, which greatly increases the anti-corrosion properties of the material. Therefore, this type of siding can last 50 years. The shape and color of it can be completely different. There are options that imitate the present log.

No matter what type of siding and additional elements are selected, trim the slopes must be done very accurately and accurately. After all, windows are first of all conspicuous when viewing a building. From their design depends all the impression of the appearance of the house.

What you need to prepare for finishing the windows

First of all, before starting work, you need to prepare the necessary tool:

  • To screw the screws you need a screwdriver.
  • Scissors for metal, which will allow cutting profiles. You can not use the bulgark, since the polymer coating on the metal burns off from heating, which leads to corrosion.
  • Knife for cutting vinyl siding.
  • Electric jigsaw or hacksaw with small teeth.
  • Special punch. Reminiscent of the pliers tool needed to make holes in the siding under the screws.
  • Medium sized hammer.
  • Measuring instrument and building level.
  • Pencil or colored chalk for marking lines.

To improve the slopes, you need additional elements, photos of which were presented above. They are better to buy with siding, because the color and tone should match. In addition, with different manufacturers, these fasteners can be different, which will create inconvenience for installation. To get the right number of slats, you need to make the correct calculation. First, we calculate the number of tides. We do this in running meters. We measure the width of all windows and summarize the result. Since the ebb is sold in a certain standard length, we round the result to the highest multiple. For example, if you total the width of all the windows turned out to be 11 meters, and the length of one standard low tide is 1.5 m, then you need to buy 8 pieces. However, one should take into account that for wide windows it is better to purchase ebb more length to not create joints.

We calculate the remaining elements as follows. We measure the length of the perimeter of each window without taking into account the bottom side, where there will be an ebb. Sum up everything and add 15%.This is necessary for the stock. After all, you will not be able to do without slices and bends during installation. For example, the height of one window is 1.3 m, and its width is 1, 5 m. There are 6 identical windows in the house. Then we need the need for materials to calculate by the formula( 1.3 * 2 + 1.5) * 6 = 24.6 m. We make a correction for the stock 24.6 * 1.15 = 28.3 m. So much we need the bar forfinishing slopes of windows. This result, most likely, needs to be rounded to 30 m, since all additional elements are also sold in standard lengths.

Important points for finishing window slopes

Before you begin to finish the slopes of windows, you need to understand for yourself some important points:

  • Always in external works use galvanized screws, as this will eliminate corrosion and rusty stains.
  • Screwing the screws is carried out at a right angle to the surface and not to the stop. There should be a gap of 1 mm, in order to compensate for the thermal expansion of materials.
  • The edges of the panel are cut at a 45-degree angle, which contributes to their more tight fit to each other.
  • Flush mount first so that its fasteners are subsequently hidden.
  • The panels must be pressed very tightly against the surface of the slopes, so they can be greased with a sealant.

Depending on the width of the slope itself, the panel mounting method is chosen. If the slope has a width of about 20 cm, then all this space should be covered with siding. You can do this horizontally or vertically. It is for attaching the siding inside the slopes and you will need a J-profile. As it is done, it is clearly visible on image 7.

When the slopes have an average width, there is no need to use siding for finishing them. To do this, there are special slats for medium slopes, the width of which can be done as you need, cutting the excess with a knife. The edge of this bar is also inserted in the J-profile or in the finish profile. To mount these slats, you need to cut them in a certain way and turn the corners. Figure 8 shows the cutting pattern.

The use of elements such as platbands is justified when the window is flush with the outer surface of the wall. They are attached directly around the window without additional elements. If there are no casings, then as them you can use a conventional siding, which is framed in a circle by a J-profile.

The process of facing window slopes with

siding. Before starting work, it is necessary to prepare slopes for this. Especially in this need their wide kinds. Preparation consists in cleaning of old plaster and other impurities, trowelling of cracks and treatment with a primer of the whole surface of slopes. These measures will not allow moisture to penetrate deep into the slope, destroying it.

If the house is stone or brick, it is first necessary to arrange a crate around the window. This will allow a more qualitative finish. After screwing the screws into the guiding rails is much more convenient than in concrete or brick. When you use it, you need to take into account that the siding does not completely close the window frame. Therefore, it is necessary to select the slats with the required thickness. In some cases, the crate can not be made at all, and you'll have to mount the siding directly on a slope. This is not a problem in wooden houses, but in stone you will have to use glue, liquid nails or dowels.

Lining with the siding of a wide window slope

For an example, consider the order of mounting the slope facings on a wide opening with the installation of low tide.

Window with a slant on the slope.

A window with a slant on the slope.

Since the escarpment has a large width, a low tide must be installed in its lower part. It protects the walls from the rain and helps to prevent snow and ice from accumulating on the slope in winter. It is this element that is installed first. The spout must be installed very tightly and qualitatively, so the installation process must be preceded by careful measurements.

Measure the length of the ebb, so that it is wider than the opening by 7-10 cm. At this depth, the same slits are made on both sides at a distance of 3 cm from the outer edge of the ebb. The resulting bends are bent upward so that the tide enters the opening, and the bends lie on its lateral surfaces. This design will not allow water to get between the ebb and sidewalls of the opening. The width of the ebb is taken 4 cm more than the width of the slope. This is necessary to ensure that the ebbing protrudes beyond the wall by 3 cm, and 1 cm more must be bent to form a surface, which it will be attached to the frame of the window with self-tapping screws.

Before attaching the part to the frame, sealant or liquid nails are applied to the joint. This will create additional protection against moisture. Then, with the help of self-tapping screws, the ebb is screwed to the frame, and its bent parts to the side walls of the slope.

Next, along the perimeter of the entire frame, with the exception of the bottom, the J-profile is screwed. It inserts the necessary length of the siding. Their edges are cut at an angle equal to the slope angle of the slope wall. The second edge of the siding is attached to the wall by an outer corner, which plays the role of platbands. If you want to fix the siding horizontally, which is often justified, then prepare the required number of lengths, the required length. They are also inserted into the J-profile, and on the other hand they close the corner.

Facing with the siding of the middle window slope

Unlike the wide slope, it is not necessary to use siding panels for finishing the middle. It will be enough to install special ready-made elements, which are cut according to the scheme considered above. This is also done after the installation of low tide. Outside, they can be covered with platbands that need to be cut correctly. Take the clypeus, and with one of its sides measure the distance, which is strictly equal to its width. Then add a segment equal to the width of the opening, after which the width of the clypeus is added again. These surpluses are cut at an angle of 45 degrees without touching the inner corner. Such manipulations are performed with the top part. The lateral parts are cut at an angle only from above. The lower part of them should rest on the ebb. Then they are alternately fastened around the opening, beginning with the side parts. In this case, the clypeus is obliged to completely cover the fastening elements of the other details of the sloping of the slope.

Finishing a window without slopes

In this case, there is no need to install a reflow. It will be enough just to frame the window with platbands, which are made according to the same scheme as described above. Only now the lower part of the window opening will also be closed by the clypeus, the edges of which are cut off at 45 degrees, as well as the lateral ones.

The correct finish of the slopes of the window opening depends on how well it will be protected from the external effects of weather conditions. Admissible flaws in installation can lead to leakage and the appearance of mold on the slopes. Not a tight mount will cause inconvenience in windy weather, when noise from poorly fixed parts of the siding will be heard. All this suggests that the installation should be done using the right technology, making all the measurements accurately, and fastening securely.
