What does the structure consist of?

The pliers are the upper part of the wall, which is limited by two roof slopes. From below they are not separated by the cornice. If the upper and lower parts are separated by the cornice, then this will already be the front. The plaster roof consists of planes that rest on the wall on one level and are limited from the ends by fronts or tongs. An important structural element of the roof is the valley, which is the internal angle at the joints.

This element in the process of operation is subjected to the strongest effects of atmospheric precipitation, it accumulates water and snow. Therefore, erecting any roof, including a multi-clasp, it is necessary to pay special attention to the valley. The simplest multi-clasp design is the intersection at right angles of two pitched roofs. The main elements of the design are Mauerlat, beams and rafters.

Mauerlat serves to redistribute the load from the roof to the walls of the building. This element is made from a bar section of 100x150 or 150x150 mm and a length of 1000-1500 millimeters. Rafters are made from uneven bars of the same cross-section and, depending on whether there are additional supports or not, are divided into inclined and suspended. In the upper part of the rafters are connected by a ridge, which is made of beams or planks joined together.

Important! The construction of multi-cliff roofs is very complicated, and without thorough knowledge of their construction, it is highly discouraged to undertake the construction of such a structure.

Multi-clasp roof with their own hands

The construction of a multi-clasp roof is a complex and very responsible process. This type of roof is considered to be the most difficult in construction, and only highly qualified specialists undertake it. In order to begin construction, the first thing to do is to remove the dimensions of the house. Further, the construction, cross-section and length of the rafter system are very carefully drawn. It is very important at this stage to correctly calculate the location of all rafters, beams and mauerlats. Also, you should not make a mistake with the location of all the skates, ends and stops.

Important! Accurate calculations of the entire design - this is the guarantee of the reliability of the roof in the future. Therefore, this issue must be approached very seriously.

The first thing to be done is the construction of a Mauerlat - bar, which is laid along the perimeter of the wall. It serves as the foundation, "foundation" for the roof and needs a secure anchoring to the wall with the help of anchor bolts. Next, rafters are installed, that is, sloped beams, on which, in fact, the whole roof will hold. Rafters are fastened to the Mauerlat with fillets, nails and staples. If rafters are large, it is especially important to make the correct installation of vertical beams, screeds and struts. When the structure of the base is ready, it is necessary to proceed with the installation of the battens, waterproofing, heat and vapor insulation and directly to the roof itself.

Price vs quality

Multi-cliff roofing is not only the most difficult way to build a roof, but also because of the large amount of work and material costs, the most expensive option. The arrangement of such a roof will cost at least half more than another type of roof. But, given that the rafter system will hold a lot of weight, you need to buy only high-quality bars to build the structure and often combine two beams into one to strengthen it.

However, if finances allow to build such a roof, then it will allow to use the whole space under it with maximum efficiency. With the help of a multi-clasp roof, beautiful attics and upper rooms are made. Also, it is very effective in combating atmospheric precipitation, since both the snow and the rain fall off the roof at an angle.

Note! Tongue roofs are considered the best option for small houses, as they create additional living space under the roof.
