Masonry of brick poles for a fence

Very many people in our time are installing brick poles for fencing with their own hands, and as sections between bricks use corrugated board.

This design turns out to be strong and durable and looks at the same time thorough and solid.

In order to do all the work yourself, you need not only to get quality materials, but also to follow a clear sequence of work performed.

It is not difficult to install a corrugated board, the most difficult is to make brick poles. We will look at their stage-by-stage installation today.

Work plan

The construction of the pillars presupposes a clear sequence of steps that allows you to do all your work yourself in a quality and in the shortest possible time:

  • First choosethe main material of the fence, installed between brick poles( as a rule, use corrugated board), taking into account the material, calculate the number of supports;
  • Fill the foundation and install the rods;
  • Lay the brick and make the device protective caps.

The distance between poles does not exceed 2.5 m, so that the material will hold well and do not warp with time.

The height of the poles themselves is better to be made about 2 meters, and the thickness is not more than 40 cm - these dimensions are enough to build strong poles and at the same time spend a minimum amount of materials.

The pillars must have a metal core in the form of pipes with a thickness of at least 8 cm or several reinforcing bars.

This will make the pillars more durable and build a design with a long life.

Foundation pouring

Foundation construction with your hands begins with the marking of the surface on which the foundation will be installed.

Determine the required number of poles, note the approximate boundaries between them, and dig out core depressions in the ground( if you want to make a strip foundation, then you have to put the cores right during the construction of the foundation).

The construction of the foundation for each pillar follows this pattern:

  1. Using a drill, create a groove in the ground( the distance between the walls of the pit should be about 40 cm, both in length and width), the depth should be at least 1 m;
  2. At the bottom we fill the sand - this pillow is designed to absorb the structure and level groundwater;
  3. We conduct the installation of the core for the pole( if you want to increase the strength of the structure, you can make a fixing belt from the armature);
  4. Fill the pit with concrete solution. The method of preparation of the solution is extremely simple and it can be easily made by hand: mix cement( 1 part), sand( 2.8 parts), crushed stone( 4.8 parts);
  5. We fill the filling slowly, gradually pouring the solution and periodically stirring it in the pit with a long metal rod so that no voids can remain inside and the solution is laid as needed;
  6. Fill the space with the core in the middle to the very edges and leave the solution to dry out for about a week.

After the solution has dried to the end, it is possible to begin the construction of brickwork.

The video below shows the entire process of pouring the foundation with the installation of a core for brick pillars, from start to finish.

Pillar solution

Brick masonry masonry requires a quality mortar to ensure that the structure has served for a long time and could hold the material between the posts.

For the preparation of mortar, cement, lime and sand are needed.

Lime makes the mortar more plastic, facilitates its laying, and makes it possible to use less materials for the mixture in a smaller amount, thus reducing construction costs.

It is important not to go too far with lime, otherwise there will be cracks between the bricks at the seams after the solution has dried.

For the preparation of the mixture with our own hands, we need to take:

  • a metal container in which we will knead the components;
  • measuring cup for measuring components;
  • is a special tool for mixing and applying a mixture( builders use for this purpose a concrete mixer or a construction mixer).

The amount of material in this case depends on the number of required poles. First mix all the material and only then add water in a ratio of 1 to 1.

In this case, do not forget that the foundation solution dries quite a long time, and the mixture for bricks should be used for 1-1.5 hours, and after thisit begins to dry out.

Piling of pillars

In order to lay the pillars with your own hands became even more economical, you can put only the first 3 rows of solid bricks, the remaining rows can be made of facing bricks.

Bricklaying is installed using special tools that can be bought in any specialized construction shop:

  • shovel shovel( for laying mortar on bricks);
  • trowel( in order to be able to evenly distribute the mixture between bricks, and if necessary, remove excess);
  • level( so that you can measure the installed column horizontally and vertically).

We put the mortar on top of the finished foundation and start putting the first row of bricks.

After laying, we check it horizontally with the help of a prepared level in advance, if the masonry is not completely flat, add a solution, or, on the contrary, remove its surplus.

Pile laying

To make it easier, you can put small sticks of wood or thin reinforcing bars between the bricks so that the distance between bricks is not more than 1 cm.

It turns out that on the bases of the first row there are four bricks( as mentioned earlier, the pillar 40 is on40 cm is optimal for the fence device), and in the middle there are free spaces around the core.

In order for the structure to be strong and stable, these spaces should be poured with concrete mixed with rubble.

There is another option - you can immediately fall asleep rubble in the space and pour it on top of the mortar on which the brick is laid( so that the mortar can penetrate more between the particles of rubble and bind them, it needs to be diluted a little with water).

Similarly, all the pillars are laid to a height of 2 meters.

In this case, you should check each stacked row with the level horizontally and vertically, because if the distance between the bricks is uneven, the columns will turn out to be curves.

Decoration of poles from brick

Fence with brick poles can be decorated if desired. This can be as a combination of different colors of corrugated board, and the decoration of the seams of brick pillars.

Consider how to decorate the seams:

  • To give the seams an elegant black color, when kneading a mortar, add soot;
  • The distance between bricks filled with mortar can also be decorated using colored stones( both natural and decorative) or glass beads. In this case, you need to think carefully about the choice of colors, make sure that they are in harmony with the color of the brick and not knocked out of the overall design. The stones in this case will look more modest, while the glass will sparkle in the sun and attract everyone's attention;
  • Concrete slabs are installed at the very top of the structure( for decorating, instead of concrete, slabs are used for garden paths, which differ in the variety of ornaments and blossoms) and hoods or fljugarkas( metal, ceramics and polymers are used as a material).Plates and hoods not only decorate the fence, but also protect the top of the structure from atmospheric precipitation and the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation.

As you can see, the installation of brick poles for fence is quite possible on its own. A bit of practice and your house will be surrounded by a strong and durable fence design.
