Which cornice is better. Making the right choice

You come to the store and your eyes are scattered, like everything, but we are building a bathroom, which means we need to take into account every detail to keep the harmony. We will not put a direct cornice on the corner bath, we will break the geometry of the interior. It is necessary that the cornice repeats the shape of the bath itself.

It is advisable to choose a rigid product, on which you can hang curtains from a variety of materials and not be afraid that they will sag and lose shape. The booms are now sold the most diverse - semicircular shape or angled cornice, as appropriate to the corner bath. Of course, it is difficult to find particularly specific forms, they will have to be ordered individually and they will be more expensive.

Special attention should be paid to the strength of the product, its durability during operation when choosing the eaves. These qualities are directly related to the material from which the rods are made. At the moment, we can distinguish two main materials - metal and plastic.

  1. Metal can be aluminum and stainless steel. The first are sufficiently strong, resistant to temperature and humidity, do not lend themselves to corrosion. But the matte look and ability to bend and leave a gray mark on everything that they are in tight contact with, do not play in their favor. Stainless steel with chrome plating is a good option. Stainless steel rod is strong, it does not bend, it can be given any shape.
  2. Plastic tubing for the bathroom, of course, looks beautiful, can be any color, easy to install, but short-lived. It is amenable to the action of time and moisture, gradually cracking in the places of fastening and curving under the weight of wet curtains.

Choosing the cornice on the corner bath, you must always think about the rings-fastenings for curtains. There are some nuances that you need to know. On sale it is possible to find metal, plastic and combined, made of metal with a covering plastic. Ordinary metal have a poor glide and will scratch the cornice or spoil the curtains. Plastic rings are not strong. The most optimal option is combined - and durable and have a soft glide.

So, all you need is bought, now you need to strain a little or strain someone to attach the bar to the walls. In principle, this process is not difficult, any master with it will cope, and to help him to the cornice is attached the instruction for installation. However, not always in the instruction the quality of walls and their covering is taken into account, therefore additional fasteners may be required.

Installation of a cornice in the bathroom

Follow these steps and you will succeed:

  1. First try the cornice to the wall in the intended mounting location and at the correct height, set the pencil mark. We remember that under the ceiling, hanging the blind is not good, there should be ventilation. From the ceiling we retreat 10-30 cm.
  2. We start drilling holes, but rest assured that there are no wiring and water supply pipes at these points. If you want to drill a tile, then take a drill with a feather tip. The brick will give way to a perforator type drill, and concrete will take a puncher with a drill of the required diameter.
  3. In the holes we pierce the spacer dowels.
  4. Attach the cornice to the screws using a Phillips screwdriver of grade RN.
  5. If the walls are finished with plasterboard, then dowels such as "butterfly" or screws "Molly" are useful.

Work is finished, we hang curtains and you can enjoy taking a shower, without fear of flooding the floor with water.
