In order to understand what such blocks differ from each other, first we will understand the qualities and properties of the main raw materials.

Gypsum - is a fine powdered substance of calcium sulphate, which forms crystals when in contact with water.

Main characteristics of gypsum

  1. Fineness of grinding. Gypsum of coarse grinding is used in construction, small - for modeling of small elements of decor.
  2. Pour point. To create the finishing mixtures, a standard gypsum is used, which slowly solidifies, for the production of gypsum panels - gypsum, which hardens faster than usual.

Classification of gypsum

Depending on the ratio of the volume of dry matter to the volume of water, these types of gypsum with different densities are distinguished:

  • 1,25: 1 - light;
  • 1.75: 1 - normal;
  • 2.25: 1 - tight.

It's important to know!

  1. Average time of gypsum hardening: from 6 to 10 minutes. Therefore, do not mix the gypsum mixture "with a reserve", as it will not be possible to use it later.
  2. The final volume of the gypsum mixture is approximately equal to the sum of the volumes of water and dry gypsum powder.
  3. It is not necessary to adjust the already prepared mixture, which began to solidify, adding water or dry gypsum. In the opposite case, a defective material with low strength and astringent properties( "dead gypsum") will be obtained.
