Buying wallpapers and necessary materials

Before you glue wallpaper, you need to measure the room and draw a plan of it taking into account the length, width and height of the room, as well as windows and doors. Calculation should be done after checking the length of the roll - it can be as 10, and 15, and 20 meters. The length of the roll is divided by the height of the wall, the resulting integer will mean the number of whole strips in the roll. The perimeter of the room with the deduction of windows and doors is divided by the width of the roll, while the total number of strips is obtained. It is divided by the number of entire strips in a roll, and the required number of rolls is obtained. If the roll is divided into strips with practically no residue, it is better to buy one more roll for gluing the space above the door and windows. For wallpaper with a large pattern, which requires selection, it is necessary to take into account the allowance for the selection of the picture.

In addition to the wallpaper you will need:

  • Materials for wall leveling;
  • The adhesive glue chosen in accordance with the recommendations of the wallpaper manufacturer. For water-intensive walls - concrete or plastered - a primer is also necessary, preferably from the same manufacturer;
  • Soft roller and brush for processing corners and other critical areas;
  • Dishes for glue, for example, a plastic bucket. The width of the container should be sufficient to wet the roller with glue;
  • Solid roller for rolling wallpaper;
  • Scissors or clerical knife for cropping wallpaper;
  • Plumb.

Preparing the walls

To ensure that the wallpaper is well glued and after it has not moved away, the walls must be carefully prepared. Perform these works before finishing.

  1. It is necessary to delete old wallpaper, especially if they have a bright or dark pattern. To do this, they are wetted with water or a very weak solution of glue, they are kept to soak and removed, using a wide spatula. If the wallpaper loosely leaves and fades, you can remove only the top decorative layer, leaving the base.

  3. If the wallpaper is light and the walls are unevenly colored, they also need to be covered with a uniformly colored layer of putty - the non-woven linen, unlike the paper, is transparent, so the substrate can shine through.
  4. Water-tight walls, which include walls made of concrete, plasterboard, painted walls, must be primed with a special solution or liquid wallpaper glue, and then dried.

Sticky non-woven wallpaper

As already mentioned, when gluing walls to apply glue to wallpaper is not necessary, the exception is the work in the hot season, when the glue on the concrete or gypsum board surface is instantly absorbed and dries. Before starting work, it is necessary to close all windows and doors to prevent the appearance of drafts.

  1. Wallpaper on nonwoven glue butt, so it does not matter where to start doing it. As a rule, it is more convenient to start wide glazing from the most noticeable angle - the corners are often curved, and if they are centered on the canvas, creases are obtained, the wallpaper frowns, and they have to be cut. You can cut the wallpaper on the canvas in advance, but you can apply it as you paste it, rolling the roll directly against the wall, which you have to paste. The second method is more economical in terms of wallpaper consumption, however, it is more suitable for monochrome wallpaper for painting.

  2. Glue on the wall is applied with a roller, trying not to make skips. The angles, the top of the wall and the joints are additionally smeared with a brush. Apply a cloth wallpaper to the wall and align from the center to the edges. The plumb line is checked for its verticality, if necessary leveled, and then rolled with a solid roller until the air is completely removed and the bubbles are eliminated. Trim the excess wallpaper with a sharp knife on a spatula or scissors.

If the wallpaper has a large pattern, it is better to first apply the wallpaper on a dry wall, combine the pattern and trim the wallpaper in size with a small allowance. 4. If the middle is the middle of the canvas, the wallpaper often lays unevenly. In this case, it is better to gently cut them at the fold and glue the resulting parts separately, with a slight lapping, checking the verticality of the cloth. After the wallpaper has been glued to the full drying of the glue, it is impossible to open the windows and allow the appearance of drafts, otherwise the wallpaper will go away. If it does happen, the glued sections are glued.
  5. Wallpaper on non-woven base is often glued as a basis for further painting. On the wallpaper package, the manufacturer usually indicates the type of paint, as well as the number of allowed layers. For painting use a paint for internal works, put it a platen. Paint the paint in the desired color with the help of color, while it is necessary to mix all the necessary volume at once, in order not to select a shade.
