Method # 1- Using connectors
The simplest way is to connect two segments of single-color or RGB tape using special connectors. All is simple enough - you need to prepare the contacts and snap them into a special connector. In order to understand how to make a connection correctly, we provide step-by-step instructions:
- If necessary, cut off the desired piece of LED strip. Cut the LED strip in special places, as shown in the photo below:
- Next, if the contacts are in silicone, you need to carefully remove it. In order not to damage the contacts it is recommended to make a perpendicular incision in a suitable place and to peel off the silicone from the end.
- Observing the polarity you need to put two pieces into the connector and connect the LED strips to each other.

Also I would like to note an important nuance - do not forget that if you want to consistently connect segments into a strip more than 5 meters, you need to consider the power of the power supply unit and the appropriateness of such an idea. Method number 2 - Soldering iron
If you need to connect two pieces of LED tape, and there are no special connectors at hand, you can solder the pieces. To do this, you must first be able to properly wire the wires. The instruction for connecting the LED or RGB tape with soldering is as follows:
- Prepare the LED strips for the connection, namely, peel the contacts and degrease the surface.
- Strip the ends of the wires approximately 10 mm. By the way, in order to solder the pieces, you can use the cord of SHVVP.
- Clean the soldering iron and turn it on.
- Carry out tinning of the cores and treat with special acid contacts on the tape.
- Remove solder from the contacts.
- Press the tinned wires to the connection point and warm it up a little with a soldering iron.
- Insulate the soldering with an adhesive gun or at least an insulating tape. You can also use a heat shrink tube.
In this way, it is possible to connect two pieces of LED strip in series by soldering. In this case, it is also possible to solder the segments and place them at an angle of 90 degrees and less / more. The important thing is to warm up the contacts with a soldering iron, very quickly, and the temperature should not exceed 300 degrees, so as not to burn the conductor.
