Beech - an alternative to expensive breeds
A beech board is made, which belongs to deciduous tree species. This tree can reach a height of about 45 m and 1.5 m in diameter, grows extremely slowly and survives to 600 years. In the processing are young trees, tk.more mature are prone to rot.
Wood is durable and durable, well bends and very easy to grind, and also to tint. The unbroken board has a reddish or yellowish tinge. - Ease of handling. The material can be easily applied to almost any kind of processing without any problems, it can be easily sawed without cracking, and it also grinds, tones and stains in any color.
- Amazing flexibility. After special treatment with hot steam this wood acquires excellent flexibility, the board easily bends. This allows you to use these lumber in the manufacture of unusual furniture sets, as well as exclusive interior items. One example is the Viennese chairs.
- Wealth of color. Wood has a wide range of colors. It ranges from almost white to pale brown. To obtain an exquisite reddish shade, the wood undergoes a steaming process. A very important property of the beech board is the color change over time. The longer the board or panel is used in the house, the more noble reddish shade it acquires, i.e.the color becomes more saturated.
The disadvantage of beech is its hygroscopicity, which means that during the use of this material for external work, its careful additional processing is necessary.
Using beech wood
In general, the characteristics of wood depend on the climate of the place where the tree grew. Southern trees are more dense, and the northern ones are less hygroscopic.
Beech, along with pine and spruce, is an important material for obtaining high-purity cellulose in the paper industry. This cellulose is used in the production of such regenerated fibers as lyocell and viscose, which are subsequently used in the manufacture of technical textiles.
The main area of application of this wood is furniture production, where it is used both as a board and as a plywood or veneer. It is used for making hard and hard surfaces for intensively operated children's, office, youth furniture, as well as seats in public, administrative buildings. Widespread use of the material as a kitchen implements, in the production of wooden toys.
Beechwood is an excellent firewood with a high heat of combustion. Charcoal, sold in supermarkets, is usually made from this wood.
Among other things, wood contains a number of chemicals( tar, vinegar, creosote), which are extracted from it by the method of dry distillation. Beech is the starting material for the production of methyl alcohol.
