Fibrolite Plates: What is it?
There are building and finishing materials of a new generation, there are well forgotten old ones. Fibrolitic plates( FP) can be safely classified in the second category, as the technology of their production began with the appearance of adobe bricks from straw and clay.
From the standpoint of linguistics - an ordinary pun, a derivative of fibra( lat.) - fiber and lihos( gr.) - stone, i.e.in the literal translation means "fibrous stone".At the same time, the name absolutely corresponds to the characteristics and properties of the fibrolite plate. At first glance, a surprisingly simple and practical panel, using only three main components: wood shavings, low-concentration liquid glass and portland cement of not less than 500, now successfully conquers the world's construction markets.
Each component is mandatory and requires explanation:
- Wood wool - this is the name for the main filler of this finishing and building material, occupying up to 60% of the volume in the finished fibrolite slab. In fact, simple wood chips length of 150-500 mm and a thickness of 2-5 mm( each manufacturer chooses a convenient calibration for himself).The task of the filler is to facilitate the construction and ensure a low thermal conductivity of the coating.
- Cement ( up to 40%) in the plate acts as a binder. It is clear that the panels used for construction work should be stable even at the stages of transportation and storage. - Service life .The durability of the panel is provided by a combination of elastically deformable wood fibers and a shock-resistant cement monolith. A similar combination of technical characteristics, like that of fibrolite slabs, has not even been found on the market of synthetic building materials.
- Resistance to movements and deformations .Here everything is thought out to genius: the fibers play the role of dampers, the cement casing provides strength.
- Heat and sound insulation .You just need to buy a fibrolite slab with the required thickness to not only provide a comfortable temperature regime, but also not to hear the neighbors.
To the listed advantages of a considered building material it is possible to add: moisture resistance, simplicity of installation, small factors of expansion of the prefabricated structure and many other wisdoms, but we will limit ourselves to simple advice.
