Soviet standard

As you can see,on the sides are copper terminals, which are grounded. The advantage of such an embodiment is that when the cord is connected from the appliance, the protective grounding begins to work before the voltage from the 220 volt line is applied. To connect the mains socket to the mains itself, it is necessary to perform the following actions:

1. Disconnect the electric power on the input shield. It is strictly forbidden to make a live connection!
2. According to the wiring diagram, mark the wall in the place where the euro outlet will be placed. It should be noted that the height of the installation of the outlets is not standardized by the rules of the Electrical Safety Standards and GOST, therefore you can choose the distance from the floor that is most suitable for your conditions. Usually, in order to connect the stand-by socket, take a height of at least 30 cm from the floor.

4. Install the jar and paste it in the wall( again, if the housing is for a hidden installation).If you decide to conduct electrical wiring in an open house in a wooden house, an insulating piece of asbestos should be placed between the wall outlet and the wall.
5. Connect the wires to the appropriate terminals. We draw your attention to the fact that the European power outlet must be connected with grounding. As a rule, the phase is connected to the right, zero to the left, and the "ground" to the center. Non-standard situations

So, there are several situations in which there are difficulties with the connection of the euro outlet. Now we will consider the two most relevant today.

1. No wiring ground. If you live in an old Khrushchev that does not have a protective PE wire, you can connect the power outlet in two ways. The first is simply to insulate the yellow-green wire and do not connect it to the outlet. In this case, you simply will not have a grounding in the apartment and the chance of an electric shock, of course, will increase. The second is to make the wiring zero. But such a protection option is extremely dangerous and even forbidden by the rules of the PUE.We recommend still to dwell on the first option, only to additionally install the RCD in the apartment.
2. It is necessary to install a European power outlet in place of the Soviet one.
