How to insulate a brick wall from the inside with foam?

Having decided to insulate a brick wall from the inside, it is necessary to understand that the insulation material will occupy some useful space. Warming can be carried out in the following ways:

  • Plaster;
  • Polyfoam;
  • Mineral wool.

Polystyrene is a cheap material that has good insulating performance. Before its laying, plastering of the wall is done, which will give additional protection. After the plaster has dried, the surface shpaklyuetsya to give it evenness. When the putty completely dries, it is necessary to lay a waterproofing, which will protect the insulation material from absorbing condensate. Important! Polyfoam loses its characteristics when wet.

Foam is fixed to the wall with the help of glue, which is applied to the surface being decontaminated, and not to sheets of material. The sheets are mounted butt-end so that there are no gaps between them. When the whole wall is pasted with foam plastic, a vapor barrier must be made. This step is mandatory when the wall is insulated from the inside. After installing the vapor barrier, it is possible to start finishing the surface.

Installation of mineral wool

Mineral wool in recent years is increasingly used for internal insulation of walls. This is due to the fact that this material has excellent insulation performance and at the same time is quite cheap. How to insulate the wall with mineral wool? This process, in many ways, is similar to the installation of foam, but there are differences.

Mineral wool should also be plastered on the wall. However, some experts say that this stage is a waste of finances and materials. They say that it's easier to do. To do this, a wooden lath is installed on the brick wall from the racks arranged vertically. The pitch of the slats should be less than the width of the insulation. Next, waterproofing is installed, which is mounted directly to the rails.

Note! If you do the installation without plastering, then the layer of insulation must be increased.

Mineral cotton wool must be laid in the space between the slats. The material must fit tightly into this space without gaps. The last stage of the work is laying the material for the vapor barrier. If the vapor barrier has foil in the composition, then the side with the foil should be directed towards the room. Steam insulation, as well as waterproofing, is attached to the rails of the crate. Then you can make the wall.

Plastering - finishing and insulation in one process

When deciding how to insulate the walls of a brick house from the inside, you can stop on the option of insulation with plaster. In order to carry out such a process, a metal or fabric mesh is applied to the wall. Plaster coating is done in three layers.

The first layer is a spray. It is done in order for the solution to penetrate well into all the gaps and cracks in the wall. To do this, use a liquid solution, which is applied by strong rubbing in the surface. The application tool is a paint brush with a stiff brush. Apply a layer evenly over the entire wall, a thickness of 5 millimeters.

The next layer is a primer. You can use any brand of primer from any manufacturer. This layer serves as the main warming layer, so it should be applied evenly to the entire surface of the wall. Work with a spatula with a flat surface. The total thickness of the soil should be about 50 millimeters, but it must be applied in stages in a couple of layers. So, put the first layer, and after it completely dries, the second layer is applied.

Note! Several layers are necessary to ensure that the soil does not fall off under its own weight.

Thermal insulation of the brick wall from the inside with plaster ends with the third stage - a covering. A solution is prepared for this stage from fine-grained sand, applied in a thickness of 5 millimeters for the final leveling of the wall.
