Making a simple wooden shelf

• screws, brackets, dowels.

As an example, a simple rectangular shelf with a width of 250 mm, a height of 300 mm and a length of 1100 mm is used.

Step 1. Layout

Planks are laid flat on the table and transfer measurements from the drawing. The height of the side walls should be 268 mm, because they will be located between the upper and lower part: wall height + board thickness x 2 = 300 mm.

Place the lower board flat on a flat surface. From the ends of the workpiece retreat by 8 mm and conduct 2 straight lines parallel to the sections. When all the holes are ready, the side boards are set on the bottom board and the screws are tightened. On top, a second board is applied and also the side walls are fixed with self-tapping screws.

At the ends of the side walls fix the brackets, drill holes in the wall for the dowels, insert the screws and twist them so that they protrude about 5 mm. The dowels must be positioned strictly horizontally, so before drilling, schedule the line with a level. Now it remains only to attach the brackets to the fasteners and hang the shelf. If desired, the back wall of the product can be clogged with a piece of plywood, and in front insert glass.

To make such a simple shelf more original, you can replace one side wall with a stub of a thick branch. To do this, choose an even branch with a diameter of about 7-8 cm with smooth clean bark, saw off a piece of 28 cm long, cut off all the lateral processes.
