How to disassemble a single lever mixer: for the bathroom and kitchen, disassembly and the device, of which the ball mixer consists and with a ceramic cartridge

Any person can handle this type of faucet, such as a single lever. Most often, such manipulations are carried out with clogging of the spout, leakage, jamming, formation of scale and other problems. The actions will depend on the type of mixer with one lever, and on the malfunction itself.

The mixer of this type is a faucet that has only one knob. Due to this structure, the flow of water in the mixer with a single lever is controlled by the movement of one hand.

Its main advantages:

• Quick receipt of a water jet of the desired temperature.
• Convenience of management.
• Easy repair, which you can do yourself.

The water entering the mixer mixes the water to the user's desired temperature, and then enters the outlet tube. Regulation of both water temperature and jet head is performed by moving the ball inside the mixer or the cartridge plates.

Single lever mixers are divided into:

1. Ball valves. Their internal structure includes a hollow steel ball with three holes. After two of them, water is fed into the bowl, and through the third - it is discharged in a mixed form into a drain nozzle. This ball is inside the ball joint, which also has strong rubber seats. Under the pressure of water jets the ball is firmly in contact with these saddles. To move it inside the mixer a rod is used. The turns of the ball change the temperature of the water and its head in accordance with the coincidence of the holes in the ball. The more holes are opened, the stronger the pressure.
2. Cartridge. The water inside these faucets is mixed in the cartridge. These mixers are also called disk mixers, since metal-ceramic or steel disks are available for changing the temperature and pressure of the water jet in the gate of such mixers. The lumen between them acts as a chamber in which water of different temperatures is mixed.

First of all, prepare the tools that you will need to disassemble the mixer with one lever.

You should carry:

• Flat screwdriver.
• Adjustable wrench.
• Spanners.
• Knife.
• Pliers.

Next, your actions will determine the internal structure of the mixer. Do not forget to turn off the water supply before starting work.

1. Using a knife or a screwdriver, remove the plug with a red-blue mark.
2. Remove the screw with a hexagon or screwdriver, the function of which is to hold the lever.
3. Remove the lever from the body to see the top of the cartridge with the adjusting rod and clamping nut.
4. Carefully unscrew the clamping nut, using either a spanner( for a faceted nut) or a screwdriver( for a round nut that has recesses and a shoulder) for this manipulation, depending on the type of nut.
5. Remove the cartridge, remembering its location inside the case.

This single-lever mixer is analyzed as follows:

• Remove the handle by loosening the screw that holds it.
• Using a screwdriver, push the ring( its notch) so that it rotates counter-clockwise, but not completely.
• Remove the dome with the help of pliers, without deforming the four-toothed ring located below it.
• Remove the plastic ring from the dome to check the connection, its rotation and the degree of contamination.
• Remove the plastic part by cleaning its black part( sealant).Sometimes the whole malfunction is the contamination of this part, so after cleaning the crane is going back.
• If the cleaning did not help, remove the ball from the tap and inspect it. If it is necessary to replace the ball, install a new part in the mixer, and then assemble the whole structure in reverse order.

This type of mixer is often clogged at the tap outlet, which is manifested by a weakened pressure of water, but to solve such a problem it is not necessary to completely disassemble the ball valve. To clean the spout, first unscrew the nut in the spout of the tap. Remove the mesh, and after flushing and blowing, install it back, and then return the nut to its place.

After removing the cartridge from the mixer, you need to determine its diameter, since it is necessary to replace the service part identical. After selecting a new cartridge of a similar diameter, it should be inserted into the housing in the same way as the old cartridge inside the mixer.

Make sure that the tabs for fixing it correspond to the recesses in the case. Also, assess the condition of the sealing rubber. It is desirable that they are silicone, as similar gums are more resistant to water and more elastic than rubber. After installing the cartridge, assemble the mixer, observing the reverse order.
