Manual cutting methods
The cutting knife for gypsum board is used to work with material on the principle of "cut and break".You can do this without the use of goats, as required by plywood, enough material to lean against the wall and cut it in the right place. For a more accurate cut, a guide is used.
To cut through the paper coating of the material, it is sufficient to walk once with a sharp knife, after which the sheet rises and breaks along the line. After that, only the back paper substrate remains. For a neat fault, an incision of 300 millimeters is made, and the material is bent sharply to itself. If the panel is dry enough, it will break easily and neatly.
Important! The knife must be sharp in order to carry out the cuts qualitatively.
Hacksaw for gypsum cardboard is used for making square and rectangular openings. Than the blade of the hacksaw is thinner, the better. To begin with, the opening of the opening is drawn, and in one corner a hole of this diameter is drilled to allow the blade to enter freely into it. It is most convenient to cut, if such an aperture is made in all corners. After the required shape has been cut, the edges are treated with a planer.
When the plasterboard knife can not cope
The plasterboard cutting tool is not limited to hand tools, an electric tool is also often used. For quick and simple work with this material, use a cutter for gypsum board or electric jigsaw. Naturally, you need to invest in buying it, but it costs its money, because it is capable of making not only even, but also curved lines. The tool is installed at the beginning of the line, and cutting is performed smoothly on it. The edges of the material after working with such a device require the very minimal processing.
To make round holes, it is best to use special tools. For these purposes, the gypsum board mill is ideal. To mark out the hole to be cut, a compass is used. After the marking, the milling cutter is carried and smoothly, without sharp movements, gets deeper into the material. It is necessary to very carefully align the cutter with the intended hole, so that it does not turn out uneven. For the same purpose, circular saws are also used.
Note! The milling cutter and the ring saw have a set of drills of a certain diameter, so if you need to make a lot of round holes, it's best to buy a full set of baits.
Required kit for efficient operation of
For complete processing of drywall, you need to have some required tools. The device for cutting plasterboard should be of good quality. Standard set includes:
- Knife - used for cutting and processing of material;
- Circular Saw - used for cutting round holes for sockets, lamps, pipes and so on;
- Saw for gypsum board - necessary for figured cutting holes;
- Disk cutter - used for cutting narrow strips, for example, under slopes. The end after his work does not need additional processing;
- End planer - used for end processing, indispensable for sheet fit;
- Edge planer is needed for cutting edges at an angle of 22.5 and 45 degrees;
- Drill-screwdriver - used to mount drywall.
This set is the most necessary, basic. The list can be added indefinitely, but other, more specific tools are most often used by the wizard. But even without the listed set, the work will not be so effective, it will take more time and effort.
