Level the floor with plywood

In this article, we will consider how to align the old floor with plywood under the laminate, for example, take two basic grounds: wooden and concrete.

Use of plywood as a leveling layer for finishing flooring is considered to be economically and proven by right.

The technology of arrangement of a dry screed with the use of plywood does not require significant labor and large investments.

Since the floor can be leveled in a short period of time, and you do not have to wait for the screed maturing, the floor surface repair is done without delays.

The alignment of the wooden base can be carried out by two methods: on the crate and without it. What technology is most suitable for leveling your floor under a laminate, it's up to you.

Leveling of wooden floor with plywood along the lath

Aligning the wooden floor with plywood on the lag under the laminate provides for the dismantling of the old covering, including floors and boards lyingon the lags.

After the boards are removed, it is necessary to inspect the log, possibly some of them have to be replaced with their own hands or simply strengthened with the help of anchor bolts.

If you want to raise the height of the floor in the house to a certain level, you can completely get rid of worn out logs and install new ones, having determined in advance with the desired step size.

It is best to use the logs to assemble the logs from the wood of coniferous trees. First of all, we make the strap around the perimeter of the room, leaving a temperature gap of 50-100 mm near the walls.

Then the working area is equipped with longitudinal bars with a distance of not more than 60 cm. Control the correct horizontal level of the log using the building level.

Plywood is fixed on uneven bars so that the butt joint of the sheets lies on the support.

Do not allow the seams of the leveling layer to hang in the air. If the laths of the lathing were laid with a large step, then it is necessary to supplement the support base with transverse bars.

At the same time, the smaller the cell of the supporting floor, the better it will be to align the base with the hands for the laminate.

Before proceeding with plywood laying, it is recommended to equip the floor with heat and vapor.

Firstly, a heat insulation layer is laid, foam polystyrene plates or mineral wool can be used as it. On top of it, a vapor barrier is fitted with an overlap on the walls.

Installation of plywood sheets on uneven bars:

  • Given the unevenness of the walls, control the corners and adjust the extreme sheets of plywood to the required parameters;
  • Mounting of plywood is carried out in the run-up, so as to avoid the formation of a cross-stitch of four sheets. At the same time, there should be a temperature gap between products, about 2 mm;
  • Plywood should be separated from the wall by at least 20 mm. Free space will later be masked by a plinth;
  • Fixing of plywood to beams is carried out with the help of self-tapping screws. The length of the rods of fasteners is calculated by multiplying the width of the sheet by 3;
  • The holes for the screws are previously countersunk, which will completely drown their hats in the plane of the plywood;
  • Plywood is laid on the lathing strip. Fasten sheets with a step between fasteners of 20 sm;
  • If necessary, the extreme elements of the floor are cut with a jigsaw under the laying of communications, or adjusted in accordance with the projecting parts of the wall;
  • After the installation of the plywood on the crate is completed, fill in the unevenness.

Leveling the wooden base for a laminate without logs

Aligning the wooden floor surface is possible and without using logs. We can consider this technology, from all existing, the easiest way to level the floor for a laminate.

In this case, you do not need to waste time on dismantling the old surface and mounting the logs.

In addition to plywood, wooden floors can be leveled using cement-shaving or gypsum-fiber floor boards.

It is not recommended to level the surface using a fiberboard, as the minimal wavy changes in the substrate will adversely affect the finish coat.

It will sag under the weight and will deform with time.

For leveling the plank floor it is necessary to choose the correct thickness of plywood.

If the floorboards have a width of about 20 cm, the thickness of the product may be 10 mm;with a floor width of more than 20 cm - the thickness of the plywood should be about 20 mm.

Installation of plywood sheets without logs:

  • From the wall, it is necessary to retreat 20 mm to properly form an indentation, it is necessary to mount mounting bosses along the perimeter of the floor;
  • When installing the sheets between them, it is necessary to leave a temperature gap of 3-8 mm, by which the depreciation of the rolling stock will be achieved with a change in the moisture index;
  • In the process of installing plywood under the laminate it is recommended to simulate brickwork. That is, each sheet should be stacked offset from the sheets of the previous row. The minimum displacement is ¼ sheet of plywood, the maximum parameter is half the width of the product. It is necessary to avoid cruciform joints of four joints;
  • Fixing the sheets to the plank cover with their own hands, you need to correctly distribute the fixing points. In this case, it is necessary to focus on the step between the differences in altitudes, revealed in the preliminary measurements. More details in the below proposed video story;
  • The holes for the fasteners are made in advance in several stages. First, the hole is drilled with a drill, the diameter of which corresponds to the size of the screw. Then the finished hole is countersinked so that the fastening screw is screwed in at the level of the plane of the plywood sheet.
    All holes, which should be located around the perimeter of the sheet, do by their own hands with an indentation from the edge of not less than 20 mm.

Leveling concrete screed with

You can level the concrete flooring for a laminate using different leveling technologies, but the technique with the use of plywood is the simplest and cleanest. After all, in other cases, you can not do without concrete work.

Depending on the evenness of the concrete base, choose the option of final leveling of the surface with plywood under the laminate.

Technology can provide a lagging method or floor leveling without the use of a lagging structure.

Alignment of a concrete base without logs is an optimal option for a relatively level screed, the horizontal difference can be no more than 1-1.5 cm.

Plywood sheets are glued to the concrete floor with a special glue, then they are additionally fastened with dowels-nails.

The same principle is used to level the concrete floor with the use of particleboard boards.

The main thing is that the base on which the leveling layer will be mounted is firm and even.

The leveling of the screed on the crate is required if necessary to raise the concrete floor or when the difference in the heights of the horizontal surface exceeds 1.5 cm.

The alignment of the concrete screed by means of bars is as follows:

  • First of all, it is necessary to prepare the substrate, as a result of which the screed must become completely dry and clean;
  • On the perimeter of the room, using the building level, determine the boundaries of the future flooring;
  • Adjust to the desired dimensions of the beams, as a future supporting structure using products from coniferous wood. Lags can be purchased at the building store, but, as a rule, they are not always well dried. For the construction of a rough base, fully dried wood is suitable, otherwise the structure can be twisted. Suitable material parameters have indicators of 40x100 mm;
  • For the working process also prepare wooden spacers of the following sizes: width - 100-150 mm;length - 200 mm;thickness - 250 mm;
  • The installation of the beams should be carried out transversely to the door opening, with a step of 40-50 cm. The distance from the wall should be 20-30 mm, it is made to exclude the deformation of the floor due to temperature fluctuations;
  • Controlling the evenness of the structure to be assembled and its conformity to the intended height of the future floor, wooden wedges are placed in uneven places;
  • In this case, between each element( wooden wedges, gaskets, lags) it is necessary to lay a soft soundproof layer, a piece of linoleum or foam polyethylene;
  • Logs are mounted around the perimeter of the room, then cross bars are attached to them. The voids of the finished crate are filled with a heat-insulating layer, which is used as a mineral wool or basalt. As a result, the floors will not only be insulated, but also quiet;
  • Then they move to laying plywood sheets, they should be well dried, and for ease of installation they are dissolved into squares of 75x75 cm. The products are mounted on bars with self-tapping screws with a temperature gap of 2-3 mm.
