In winter, warm air that exits the rooms under the influence of a negative temperature forms a condensate inside the ventilation devices. Gradually, the condensate destroys not only the ventilation pipes, but also the roof. In order to avoid this, it is necessary to insulate the ventilation pipe.
For this, any materials that have a good thermal conductivity coefficient are used.
Materials with a surface laminated with aluminum foil are also successfully used. For example, foil on foamed foam perfectly reflects the flow of frost air. In addition, it protects the thermal insulation material from damage.
Modern industry produces ready-made elements in the form of cylinders, half-cylinders, shells, cords, which can be mounted on pipes of any diameter.
Insulation methods
Mineral wool
Before insulating the ventilation pipe with cotton wool, it is necessary to clean them from dust, dirt and rust. Then - paint, if necessary, the pipe and wrap it in one layer. Vata is fixed with screeds from a cord, a wire, an adhesive tape and other. On top it is desirable to lay, for example, a layer of pergamene, roofing material, which can protect the heater from moisture. At the end of the work, glue the joints with aluminum tape.
Warning! When working with mineral wool, observe the safety rules: do not allow particles to enter the respiratory tract and eyes.
Polyfoam and polyurethane foam( polypropylene)
The material is available in the form of ready-made shells, and therefore the insulation is made easily. To do this, cut a piece of necessary length and put it on the pipe. After that, it remains only to fix the lock connection. Warming with polypropylene is made in the same way as foam.
Foamed polyethylene
This is the most common insulation for ventilation pipes. The material is a ready-made shell that takes on the necessary shape.
For insulation it is necessary:
- to measure material;
- on a special seam cut the insulation shell along;
- shell set around the pipe;
- glue the seam with special glue or adhesive tape.
Thermal insulation of ventilation pipes with foamed polyethylene is safe for health, since the material does not emit harmful substances during operation.
How to insulate a gas pipe?
On a heated pipe, traction is better than cold. The most popular heaters are basalt fiber, isover, ursa. Basalt fiber can withstand a temperature rise of several hundred degrees.
The work is basically the same as described above.
Warming of sewer pipes in the street
In areas with severe winters special heaters are used. They are of a roll type and shaped( for a certain diameter of the pipe).In order to insulate the sewer pipes in the street was durable, heaters before burying in the ground you need to wrap a layer of waterproofing. The fact is that some materials, absorbing moisture, lose their properties.
Another way is to use a special heating cable. But its cost is very high. In addition, it requires an uninterrupted supply of electricity.
