Pasting plasterboard on the walls - how right?

When carrying out repair work on your own you need to know how to properly paste drywall on the walls.

This building material is used for leveling surfaces.

You can level the walls by plastering, carving of irregularities with an angular grinder.

But working with plasterboard has a lot of advantages over other methods.

This material can even out the wall even with the most significant unevenness.

When installing on a drywall wall, make a framework of profiles. This design is not very convenient, if you have to do repairs in a small room.

But do not give up this building material. Drywall can be glued directly to the wall with glue or foam.

The video shows the fastening of drywall to various surfaces.

      • Surface has small irregularities
      • Surface has large unevenness
    • Installation of drywall on the mounting foam

Methods of fastening the drywall

The owners of small apartments during the repair can align the walls without spending theirforces, time. For this, it is necessary to glue the drywall sheets to the wall.

Depending on the degree of unevenness of the surface, it is suggested that a suitable method of fixing the material be selected.

Surface has minor irregularities

Most often, the walls laid out of concrete have a relatively flat surface. When attaching sheets of drywall, a thin layer of adhesive will be used.

In this case, for the laying of electrical wiring, it is necessary to make a groove in the wall. The wire is laid in the grooves, which must be fixed with clamps.

Immediately it is necessary to provide a socket where the rosettes will be located.

After installing the wall wiring, it is recommended to prime it. If the paint is applied to the concrete, it is not necessary to remove it.

The modern building materials market offers a primer that can be applied directly to a painted surface.

Finally, you can fix the drywall.

To do this correctly, it's worth following the instructions or watching the video:

  • First you need to prepare the glue. For this it is important to carefully read the instructions on the packaging. Neglect this occupation is not worth it, because there are a lot of varieties of glue that have different setting time. The amount of glue should be calculated in such a way that the mixture is not withered, while work on fixing one sheet will pass;
  • If there are sockets on the wall, then the holes on the corresponding sheet must be cut out. It is worth to carefully measure, so that the hole made coincides with the notch in the wall;
  • Use a notched trowel to apply the glue neatly to the sheet. It is best to apply the mixture on the entire surface of the drywall. Thus, it can be aligned along the entire plane;
  • The sheet with the applied glue composition is installed on the pads in a horizontal position. It is necessary to bring out wires;
  • The sheet rises and gently presses against the wall. With the help of a level it is worth checking how exactly the drywall is installed. If he lay flat, he is pressed against the wall more.

Surface has medium size irregularities

Brick walls have larger irregularities than concrete structures. When laying plasterboard on such walls it is recommended to choose another brand of glue, since it will be applied in a thicker layer.

For the installation of electrical wiring, it is necessary to make grooves in the brick wall by strobing. Under the switches, the sockets also pre-drill the holes.

Apply the adhesive to the sheet more carefully than in the first method. Using a trowel or spatula, glue is applied around the entire perimeter of the material.

Between the slides it is important to maintain a distance of about 25 cm. In the central part of the sheet, glue is also needed. When laying the composition, it is necessary to control the distance between the rows.

It should be 45-50 cm. The adhesive layer should be such that after mounting the sheet on the wall it is 20-30 mm.

The sheet with the applied adhesive composition is installed on the stands and leveled. Then you need to glue the drywall to the wall. With the help of a level, it is necessary to check the correctness of the sheet installation.

If necessary, you can tap your hand lightly on the irregularities.

Surface has large irregularities

In panel houses you can often encounter large wall defects.

But such surfaces can be covered with plasterboard.

The procedure will differ from the first two methods:

  • Do not bend the walls for the wires. The wiring will pass under the frame structure. The wires will need to be fixed;
  • One-piece sheets need to cut out strips with a width of about 10 cm. They will work as a basis for installing the base sheet. The amount of cut strips depends on the height and width of the room;
  • Prepared strips are attached to the wall. The distance between them should be 50-60 cm. Each strip should be checked with a level. Glue on the strips must be applied, based on the irregularities of the base surface. In some places, the mixture will take a little, others will require a thick layer of adhesive;
  • Drywall must be glued to the beacons only after the glue has completely solidified on the strips. Strong sheets are attached with the help of glue, which was used in the installation of lighthouses. You can use liquid nails. The latter will cost more than glue.

Installation of drywall on the mounting foam

Before installing the drywall on the base surface, you need to thoroughly clean the wall from the wallpaper, the plaster of the remains of paint. It is desirable to cover the wall with a primer coat.

To properly attach the material to the wall, drill holes in it. In total, you need to make 8-10 holes, which are evenly distributed throughout the plasterboard area.

In addition, on the sheet of material you need to glue the pieces of foam rubber. They will serve as a spring - the sheet will not fit snugly against the wall, so there will be a place where the foam will pour.

After the sheet is attached to the wall, markings on the wall should be made through the holes. In the marked points, it is necessary to drill holes into which to insert plastic dowels.

Gently set the sheet and check the correct level setting. Screws can be adjusted vertically.

After the material has been fixed to the wall, the foam should be poured into the holes near the screws.

They need to be made small in size - enough to allow the tube to pass through the hole.

Do not pour foam strongly - a large amount of sealant can lead to deformation of drywall. After the composition has hardened, the screws are twisted, and the holes from them shpaklyuyutsya.

Video in this article will tell you how to fill the foam between the plasterboard and the wall.
