Roof measurement or what should I do before installation?

With external resemblance to ceramic tiles, this sheet covering has a number of significant advantages: easy installation, low specific weight, wide color gamut, minimal operating costs and relatively low price. Of the disadvantages is worth noting the sensitivity to the effects of corrosive substances.

Before starting work, make sure that the shape of the roof slope is strictly rectangular, for which measure the length of the diagonals. They must be equal. Before proceeding with the installation of the roof from metal, it is important to correctly calculate how many sheets it will need.

The technology of metal tile installation requires that the roofing sheets should overlap, and this should be taken into account when performing calculations. The width is conventionally divided into two quantities: full( real) and useful.

Calculation of the number of sheets - remember the algebra

To determine the number of rows on one slope in the horizontal direction, the length of the cornice should be divided by the useful width of the sheet. The difference between the useful and full width will go to the overlap of the sheets horizontally.

Sometimes scheme of mounting metal requires several roofing sheets in one row, and it is quite easy to calculate their required number. The total length of all sheets in one row L can be determined by the formula: L = B + 0.2 meters, where B is the length of the ramp measured from the ridge to the eaves.

The value of 0.2 includes two components: 0.05 meters - overhang from the eaves and 0.15 meters - overlapping sheets vertically. Knowing the total length of the series, we also define the number of sheets in it, dividing L by the length of one sheet.

Now, knowing how many rows are needed per skate and how many sheets each row contains, we can easily determine the number of sheets on one slope, and multiplying this figure by two( a gable roof), we get the total number of sheets required to install a roof made of metal.

We conduct the installation of the metal tile correctly

The laying of the metal tile is carried out from the eaves to the ridge. The second layer is above the first, overlapping it by 15 cm. Behind it is the third layer, and so to the roof ridge. The installation procedure provides that in the first stage, a layer of a special waterproofing film is laid horizontally from the outside of the rafters.

A crate is installed on top of the waterproofing film. Along the rafters are packed bars, which are attached to the horizontal boards of the crate. At the next stage, the heat-insulating material is placed between the rafters with a gap up to a film of 20 mm.

The rules for the installation of metal tiles provide for the use of a vapor barrier film that is attached to the rafters overlapping from the side of the room over the insulation.

The roofing sheets are laid on the prepared crate in accordance with certain rules, which are detailed in the video instruction for the installation of metal roofing. We will draw attention to some key points.

In the case of a gable roof, installation begins at the end. You can start working from one or the other edge. In case you decide to do the installation from the left end, each subsequent sheet is overlapped under the wave of the first, which should protrude beyond the cornice by 50 mm.

It is most convenient to fasten three or four sheets at a time, attach them to the ridge with one screwdriver, set the bottom strictly on the ledge and then secure it completely along the entire length. The video, presented at the end of the article, demonstrates the installation of the metal tile.
