track Material advantages and types of laying

Before starting the material laying yourself, you need to read the instructions and also estimate how much this material will suit your site.

Choosing a paving for a garden path follows, first of all, proceeding from the general concept of design on your summer residence and appointment of a path.

If it is needed for a walking area, resting place or trimming beds, then the paths from the ground, tiles or spits of a tree will do. If it is needed to create a parking lot, it is best to use concrete as the most durable material.

Paving of garden paths from a tree cut by one's own hands is a good choice for those who want everything in the country house to be made of natural materials or tends towards eco-style.

Environmental friendliness is the main advantage of this material.

The pluses can be attributed to the unusual appearance - each of the spinals of the tree has its own unique pattern, plus, you can stack them in any way you like, making each track individual.

Garden paths made of wood are characterized by cheapness and simplicity of construction. The material for the track in many cases can be found right in your dacha, or you can buy inexpensively, and there are tools for assembling it in your garage.

The main drawback of the track from the cuts is fragility.

When laying it is worth considering that the tree is still a natural material, and subject to insect attacks and rotting processes even with maximum protection, so do not expect that it will serve you as much as, for example, road access from concrete.

Fire hazard may be another problem, but in fact the probability of fire of such a track is rather small - this is possible only with prolonged exposure to open fire.

The spit for the tracks can be of two shapes: round or semicircular. The size of the saw can be 0.3 - 1 meter, and the height of about 10 cm.

There are different ways and ways of laying the tracks from the spills. The classical option is direct paving, as in the photo.

However, in the country more often you can find different types of tracks. For example, tracks of arbitrary shape - this way of laying is easier to make with your own hands, and it looks more original than a strict straight line.

Another original paving - arbitrary laying with wide seams, which are filled with gravel or sand or planted with a lawn - the last option looks most attractive.

If you know the skill of wood carving, you can make the tracks even more original, having issued some spits in the form of figures, or even making the figures a separate decoration for your dacha.

In addition to the tracks themselves, it is possible to decorate bridges, stairs and other elements for a garden plot.

Look at the photos of the different options for decorating the plot with this material - they will help you in choosing the concept for your own villa or garden.

Preparation of spills

The first step in the production of the track is to assemble the tools and familiarize yourself with the photo and video stages of the works in order to understand the sequence of actions.

The most "serious" tool that you will need is a chainsaw or an electric saw for making cuts.

Before starting work with logs, they must be carefully dried, becauseif they are damp, they can crack and deform.

If they dry up after they are buried in the ground, then the path will have to be changed, becauseits appearance will be spoiled.

Before starting the work, note the size of the saw - it should be about 10-12 cm. The best way is to make a template, by which you will mark the logs. You can also make it yourself.

For the track you can take not only the trunks themselves, but also large branches. The diameter of the laid material can be very different. The minimum size is 7 cm, the maximum is 45 and above.

Try to choose hard woods - they will last you the longest. Best of all under the garden paths of wood suited oak, pine, larch.

Oak and larch are the most durable materials, the term of such a path with proper installation and operation will be no less than 10 years.

The service life of a tree directly depends on how well it has been treated with an antiseptic. The simplest method of treatment is linseed oil and vitriol solution.

You can also buy already finished impregnation, in which several protective elements are combined - this method will be even more effective. After the treatment of the tree, it must be left for a while to completely dry.

After drying, the second layer of impregnation - waterproofing - is made with melted bitumen. In order for the material to be ready for application, it must be melt.

You can make the hearth yourself, taking any metal container and setting between two bricks.

Bitumen processes only the lowest part of the log that will be immersed in the ground. Another way of waterproofing the material is to immerse the spills in gasoline with bitumen.

After the bitumen has melted, it is possible to dip inside the wood. It should also be only on the bottom of the surface of the tree. Watch a video on material handling, it will help you cope with the work.

After processing, wait for the tree to dry completely before starting the styling.

Layout of the track

Paving of the spills begins with the marking of the territory. You will need a cord to mark the border. It is pulled between pegs along the perimeter of the future path.

If it is tortuous, then instead of pegs you can use sand.

After the territory is ready, you need to make a trench about 30 cm deep in the ground. In the trench you need to equip the drainage system to protect the spits from moisture.

For this, the bottom of the trench must be laid with rubble, on which the geotextile layer is lined. It needs to be covered with sand layers in several approaches.

Each layer should be poured with water and carefully compacted before applying the next. The thickness of the layer should not be more than 10 cm.

Once the surface is prepared, you can start installing materials. Try to keep the materials as close as possible to each other with the alternation of the diameter of the spills.

It is also recommended to think in advance how you want to see your track by selecting several options in the photo - then making the stacking will be easier, because you will clearly understand what you want.

The seams between the spills are covered with any material: sand: gravel or pebbles. You can sow a place with a lawn - the grass will make the path even more beautiful.

Another option - to lay the moss in the formed space - this will create an atmosphere of fairy tale on your site. Look at the photo, what this kind of finish looks like.

The edges of the track can also be decorated. You can protect the paving with higher cuts, decorate with stones or simply fill it with dirt on the edges - this is the easiest option for self-realization.

Also popular is the decoration of the flower walkway, you can simply arrange them along the flower beds.
If you change the course of work a little, then the garden path can be turned into a ladder, with which you can hide the irregularities available on the site.

Most of all for this design is suitable small slope. Using the video will help you upgrade and change the standard track for the needs of your site.

After such as all the materials are laid, the paving of the garden path with your own hands can be considered finished.

But do not forget that every year such a path must be primed, and the procedure should be carried out with a material of deep penetration.

Treatment of spills with a primer will protect the tree from decomposition and significantly increase the service life of the structure.
