Owners of outdoor pools face a number of difficulties, among which one can note the rapid water contamination and short bathing season. Is it possible to operate a water reservoir for a long time, while reducing the costs of cleaning and heating the water? Yes, it is possible, and pavilions for swimming pools will help in this. Today on the site "House of Dreams" you will find out what materials are used to make protective coatings for swimming pools, what they are and why they are needed.

What is the pavilion for the pool

As already mentioned above, the pavilion for the pool is a protective covering, something like a dome, located above the water. They can be of different shapes and heights, even the design features of different models differ. About the types of pavilions, we'll talk about a little later, but for now let's define the advantages of having such a design on your site. We counted eight advantages, but in fact there may be more.

  • First, the pavilion protects the pool from various debris, for example, leaves, grass, dust, insects.
  • Secondly, it protects the pool from precipitation, with each drop of which increases the pH of the water.
  • Third, it keeps water warm for a long time, prolonging the bathing season for several months.
  • Fourthly, due to the low thermal conductivity of the material from which the protective pavilion is made, the costs for heating the water are reduced.
  • Fifth, the coexistence of a deep pool and young children becomes safe, since the pavilion can completely close the pool and the child will not fall into it.
  • Sixth, reduces the cost of cleaning the pool of debris.
  • Seventhly, it makes it possible to use the pool all year round.
  • Eighth, rain or hail - not a hindrance to bathing in the pool.

As you can see, the advantages of a protective coating justify its existence, and if earlier you only thought about such an acquisition, now you definitely need to do it. Virtually all the benefits are due to the design of the pavilion and the material from which it is made. As a frame, light and strong aluminum is used, and for walls and ceiling either organic glass or polycarbonate is used( the second material is used much more often).Due to the fact that it has low thermal conductivity, the water in the pool cools down more slowly, so you can swim in it at least year-round, of course, having preliminarily organized heating inside the polycarbonate pavilion.

Types of pavilions for pools

All protective covers can be divided into two large groups, these are:

  • telescopic( sliding);
  • stationary.

Sliding pavilion for the pool

Judging from the name it can already be guessed that the sliding pavilion for the pool is a structure that has sections that can be moved, freeing the entire pool or some part of it for the sun's rays. Most often these sections have a semicircular( arcuate) shape. Their height can be from 0,7 to 3,5 m, and control is carried out by shifting separate sections to the side. If we talk about the pavilion for a round pool, then the sliding system will look like a dome and will open more than 1/3 of the roof for the sun's rays.

Stationary pavilions also have the ability to open some panels for ventilation, such pavilions can be compared to indoor pools. As you understand, they not only perform a protective function, but also serve as an excellent place for rest of the whole family. If you spend heating in such a winter pavilion for a swimming pool, you can swim all winter. And if the structure is taken out of the pool and moved close to the house, you get something like a winter garden.

With regard to the height of the frame, it can be small, performing only a protective function - it can be compared to the pool tent. But it can also be a height of up to 3.5 m, turning into a full place for recreation. The high frame of the mobile pavilion for the pool allows a resting person to move along it in full growth without much discomfort, to open sections to observe what is happening around, and also to take sunbathing.

Finally, we got to the most interesting in describing such canopies - now let's talk about the forms and design of the pavilions. They can be installed on any type and shape of the pool. Most often buy a pavilion for a frame pool, because this type of pond is most common.

There is no need to expect any intricate shape shapes from wireframe structures, but there is still a variety:

  • The simplest and most accessible form is in the form of an arch. The maximum height of the structure reaches 3.5 m, so it can be used not only to protect water from debris, but also as a recreation area.
  • The next option is more interesting - it has one side has a straight wall, and the second is curved by an arc and goes into the roof. Along the straight and high wall you can organize a recreation area, put a table and a chaise longue. The maximum height of this part is 3.5 m, and the width of the whole pavilion can vary from 5 to 9 m.
  • And the third option is a vertical translucent wall and an arc-shaped roof. This is the most spacious pavilion, allowing access to water from all four sides. This design is attributed to the pavilions of the premium class.

How to make a pavilion for a swimming pool with your own hands made of polycarbonate

In principle, the pavilion is slightly more difficult to make than a usual canopy or a polycarbonate greenhouse, but this work will be on the shoulder for home masters. In order to build a pool pavilion with your own hands, you will need:

  • profile pipe of square or rectangular cross-section;
  • polycarbonate sheets;
  • welding machine;
  • fasteners.

First the supporting frame of the pavilion is assembled. The main support posts are concreted to the ground to a depth of 0.5 m. To them, by means of welding, a roof structure is mounted, which is a series of guides for polycarbonate, joined together by stiffening ribs. Polycarbonate is fixed simply - it is laid on the roof and screwed with special screws with press washers. To make the self-tapping screws not stand out, they can be painted over with paint.

A special profile is used to connect polycarbonate sheets, which makes the joint invisible. Along the perimeter, the polycarbonate roof is edged with a special profile, which is called the "starting strip".Even at the stage of construction of the frame, it is necessary to lay an opening into which a door made of a profile pipe and polycarbonate will subsequently be inserted.

For ventilation, you can provide a sliding roof or folding sidewalls. A sliding roof will require the creation of a double frame, which is interconnected by means of rollers and guides. If it is a question of folding sidewalls, then they work on the principle of a door and are attached to the roof by means of sheds. To open them, additional supports or a special mechanism consisting of pulleys and cables will be needed.

As you can see, pavilions for swimming pools can not only be purchased ready, but also made independently. But if you are not sure of your abilities, then for better reliability it is better to entrust the installation to professionals in this field. Still, this design is not done for one year, so it should not only be reliable and durable, but also safe.
