Preparation of materials for a new lampshade.
For making a beautiful floor lamp from old things, a table lamp that is already worn out, but still works, is perfect. It will look great in the bedroom or in the living room, especially if you make a shade for it from the remnants of cloth from the curtains that hang right there in the room. Measure the height of the future shade, calculate the width of the top and bottom. For convenience, you can use an ordinary thread, on which note the necessary dimensions. After that, just attach the thread to the ruler and write down the data.
Take a piece of fabric and fold it in half, chipped with needles. Cut the fabric better in an oblique incision. Thanks to such a cutting, the fabric will be stretched ten times better, and the future lampshade can perfectly fit into the old lamp, tightly fitting it. Cut out the resulting pattern with chalk or soap, selecting the upper and lower parts.
Fabrication of a lampshade.
Connect one end of the top line to the other edge of the bottom line. It is necessary to leave the top and side allowances on the seams approximately one and a half centimeters, at the bottom leave 2 centimeters. Next, you should treat the edges of the fabric along the entire perimeter with a "zigzag" seam. After that, tuck the lower and upper edges, sweep them with a light seam and count on the lamp. If everything is in order - tightly sew the seam on the sewing machine. Fold the article in half and repeat the same operations with the side seam, leaving about one centimeter of the allowance from below. Take a pin, and with it, thread the undergarment into the lower seam of the shade, then sew the remainder of the seam.
Put the finished cover on the old lamp shade and lightly sew them to each other with a needle and thread. It is not necessary to fasten particularly carefully, as the new lamp shade will have to be removed from time to time for washing, so that the floor lamp always retains an excellent appearance.
Use of yarn in the manufacture of a lampshade.
You can replace the fabric with yarn, which was previously soaked in cooked starch. Wrap the old lamp shade with an oilcloth and wrap it on top of the yarn in a chaotic manner. By adjusting the number of layers, you adjust the density and transparency of the future shade. Allow to dry and carefully remove the oilcloth.
