Toilets decorated with a pattern are a bright and unusual solution that will definitely give your bathroom an individuality. However, such models are often found in the collections of elite sanitary ware, so this pleasure is not cheap.
However, if you put a little imagination, then the standard white toilet can be turned into a real work of art. In this article we will tell you about the features of the toilet bowls with a picture and how to make original designer items from your sanitary equipment.

It can be models completely covered with a pattern or models in which only some elements are painted, for example, a cover or an edge of a drain tank. The choice of patterns is also quite large. Very popular is the floral ornament, ethnic motifs and abstract drawings. The color scheme of the pattern is usually chosen for the dominant colors in the design of the bathroom.
A special place among the toilets with a pattern is occupied by models that represent a kind of reconstruction of the old sanitary ware. Painting yourself
To paint a white toilet yourself - it's not an easy task. First of all, because the paint on products made of sanitary ceramics falls badly. If you do not have at least minimal skills in painting furniture, it is better to choose some other technique, for example, decorate the toilet with vinyl stickers or decorate in the technique of decoupage( more on this we'll talk below).
Before you get started, you need to select the right pattern. If with the technique of drawing you do not have everything smooth, then prepare stencils( in any art shop you can buy ready-made).
The work surface must be degreased with alcohol or solvent beforehand and wipe dry. Before that, some advise to sand the product, but if you are not sure of the strength of the coating, you should not do it. Drawing will be better to lie on the tinted surface. Toning is done with a soft brush or a sponge paint designed to work on ceramics.
When the background is dry, proceed with the drawing. You can use acrylic paints for this. They dry quickly enough, therefore in some hours it will be possible to start the final stage of work - drawing of a varnish covering. It will be better if you do not limit yourself to one layer of varnish, and repeat this procedure 2-4 times.
Decoration of the toilet in the technique of "decoupage"
Decoupage is a technique for decorating interior objects using paper cut out from paper. Usually, wipes or special decoupage cards are used for this. If you are just starting to master this technique, it is better to dwell on the latter version.
- Prepare pictures: you can cut them with scissors, or you can gently tear your hands - in this case there will be no sharp boundary between the image and the background, that is, the effect of the application will disappear.
- Thoroughly wash the toilet bowl and degrease its surface( as we already told in the previous section).
- Next, the toilet should be primed. To do this, spread the paint in a suitable tone in half with PVA glue. Primer is better in two layers. The second layer is applied after the previous one has dried.
- After the primer has dried, you can start applying the image. If you use napkins, remove all the layers except the first. Decoupage cards should be pre-soaked in warm water for a couple of minutes.
- The technique of working with napkins and decoupage cards is different. Napkins should first be applied to the surface of the toilet, and then glue with PVA glue, gently smoothing irregularities from the center to the edges. Decoupling cards should first be glued with glue from the back side, and then glued to the surface, avoiding the formation of folds.
- If your bathroom has a high level of humidity, it is recommended to dry the finished work with a hairdryer. After this, it is necessary to cover the surface with several layers of lacquer on an acrylic base.
Features of care for the toilet bowl with a drawing
One of the big pluses of the toilet bowls with a picture is that they do not clearly notice water stains and rusty stains( of course, with the appropriate color scheme of the pattern).Therefore, there is no need to constantly take care of the ideal purity of the toilet bowl.
However, if cleaning is necessary, avoid hard brushes and aggressive detergents, especially powders. There will be enough soft cloth, warm water and soap. When caring for products decorated with decoupage, try to use as little water as possible.
