Arched constructions
The most common construction made of gypsum board is an arch. Usually it replaces the interior door.
You can create it yourself. The design of arched openings is varied: classical arch, ellipse, gothic and others. Depends on the interior, the height of ceilings. Please note: the complex design of the arch can visually narrow the space.

Stages of arch making
In order to create a doorway with your own hands, it must first be drawn. Evaluate all the pros and cons of the chosen style.
The old door frame is removed, remaining in place where the door was located. The surface is cleaned. Measurements are made of the height and width of the arch, the radius of the bend, calculations are made.
Mounting of the metal profile
After determining the type of the arch and the calculations made, it is necessary to make the installation of the profile. For work it is better to take a metal profile with the shape of the letter P.
You will also need a hole punch and scissors for metal. Self-tapping screws are better to exclude, since the hats will prevent the drywall from adhering to the frame and complicate the finish.
On the arc parts of the frame, it is necessary to make cuts, as in the photo, at a distance of 50 mm from each other so that the profile can be bent. We bend it according to the template - the frame is ready.
In the upper part of the opening we attach the straight bases for the frame, then the curved guides.
We collect the arch
According to the patterns and calculations, we cut out the sidewalls and the lower part of the gypsum board arch. They need to cover the frame.
We fasten the arched parts to the profile, beginning with the sidewalls. Arch is extended along the entire length of the doorway. Joints must be closed with a mesh-serpyankoy and putty.
Once the joints have been leveled, the filler needs to work the entire surface of the arch, repair the chipped and unevenness that may occur during operation.
Allow it to dry, sand. After treatment with a primer, the arch should dry before it is finished. The construction can be wallpapered or painted.
The decoration of the archway depends on the design of the room in which it is built.

Close the former door
Drywall is the material that can be used not only for registration or alignment. They can perfectly close doorways that are not used indoors. You can do it yourself.
The installation of this design is quite simple.
Important! Do not forget to coordinate the project of redevelopment in the relevant authorities.
Stages of closing the doorway
When starting work on closing an unused door with your own hands, you need to take measurements and calculate the required amount of material.
If the wall is sewn on one side, and on the other you intend to make a niche, draw it.
Prepare and attach the frame corners on which the drywall will sit.
Two-sided closing of the opening
With a measured, cut out sheet of gypsum cardboard, close one side of the space in the wall, attaching it to the corner frame. The hollow part is filled with heat and soundproof material.
Now it is necessary to sew the doorway with plasterboard on the opposite side. Treat the seams, pad and primer. Wait for complete drying.
Now you can proceed with the design, in accordance with the chosen interior of the room. An example can be found in the photo above.
Combined closing
After completing the work on sewing a wall on one side, start assembling the parts from the other side. If the upper part of the opening is in the form of an arch, then make it by analogy with the archway.
